[         Content Warnings — please read before muse biographies        ]

  001.   REIGNIITE is a mutuals only multi-fandom multimuse focusing primarily on player and original characters from Dragon Age, Baldur's Gate 3, and other fantasy / medieval / unique world settings. PLEASE NOTE that I do not write smut or sexual content of any kind with muns under 25; all muns must be at least 21 to interact and all muses must be at least 18 years of age. CREDITS ARE HERE.  002.   To view which content or trigger warnings are present in muse bios before you read them, please check out the content warnings page. If I've missed something, please let me know and I'll go back and add it in. I do not tag canon-typical violence.  003.   I am a teacher! This means I work up to or over 50 hours per week depending on what needs doing for my job. I'm really not fast. From mid-August to mid-June, my schedule and activity can vary wildly ( though I'm doing my best to not bring work home or let it consume me! ) Please do not take a long period of silence as disinterest. It's not. I'm just exhausted and the brain and the words are not doing the hanging out thing. You can always find me on discord, however, where I am usually available evenings + weekends.  004.   The settings I write in are often very dark. I don't generally tag things that come up in canon-typical settings unless you ask me to ahead of time. This is mostly because if you've played Dragon Age, Baldur's Gate, or other games, you're probably familiar with it and I will assume you are okay with dark content or the occasional description of blood, violence, etc.  005.   I only follow blogs who have fandoms / verses that are compatible with mine or, at a minimum, that I'm familiar enough with. If I don't know the fandom, I won't follow. If there is not enough info on your blog, I won't follow. This is because it's difficult for me to see our muses interacting if they have no worlds in common. For a list of fandoms I'm comfortable with, click here.

  007.   Memes don't expire. If a meme I've recently reblogged doesn't work, but you want to send something in, go ahead and dig through the archive. If you send a symbol or number meme, however, please include a link to the meme or include the specific prompt, because there's a very low chance that I'll know which one you're referring to.  008.   IF YOU WRITE ON A SIDEBLOG, please just message me or send an ask and let me know which blog you're following from. I'll be honest, I'm a bit iffy about sideblogs because the mutual checker doesn't track them. So I just need some sort of written reminder that I can reference when I inevitably forget.  009.   I know that the RPC favors canon male muses in every facet, but if you ignore my female muses or original characters (or female original characters), then I will block you. I love writing and shipping with male muses too! But female muses, especially female original characters, often get shafted in favor of their male companions and I don't agree with that. If I notice that you never even try to interact with my female muses, you will be blocked. I promise that my female muses and original muses are interesting if you give them a chance.  010.   Please do not use super tiny font and/or multiple colors and/or multiple font sizes and/or heavy formatting with me. It strains my eyes and I can't read it. I likely won't follow blogs who do this in general because eye strain can lead to migraines and blindness for me. We all love a neat aesthetic, but accessibility is more important.  011.   This gets its own rule: DO NOT USE MULTIPLE SPACES IN THREADS WITH ME, PLEASE. Not only does it make me read your post in a monotonous robot voice which is probably contrary to your intent, but this is actually the single greatest source of eyestrain for me. I don't want to go blind, so I probably won't follow you if you format like that. It's not personal, but I need my eyes.

  012.   I'm extremely ship-positive and smut-positive. If you want to ship, just ask! The worst I can say is that I don't really vibe with a certain ship, but that doesn't mean we can't try something else or write together otherwise. I generally prioritize ships with female characters, both mine and yours. THAT SAID, I don't always want to write the male muse / top / whatever. I love my male muses a lot, but it gets emotionally draining to always only write the male muses. Please ask me about my female muses first. For a list of things I do and don't ship, please reference this page. This list is NOT exhaustive; it will probably change as the muses grow and develop.  013 / DRAGON AGE SPECIFIC.   (1) My Dragon Age world state is set and locked. I do not write multi-protagonist verses. Unfortunately, my muses are all just really stubborn about it. Only my Lavellan and Rook are available as companions. (2) I ignore the majority of what happens to the south in Veilguard. Southern Thedas took an extremely hard hit, but I do not agree with wiping it off the map, so we're just not doing that in this house. (3) Not all Grey Wardens were at Weisshaupt. Under my Cousland, Fereldan Wardens remained in Ferelden to ally with Hawke and the Inquisitor.  014 / BG3 SPECIFIC.   In Rhys' canon playthrough, he attempted to stake Astarion after bite night because Astarion triggered him very badly. Unless plotted otherwise, he succeeded. As a Cleric of Lathander, Aerryn will also attempt to stake Astarion after bite night. We can plot differently, but this is the default. Otherwise, all companions are recruited and in the end-game.  015.   Please give me some time to follow you back. I work ~50 hours a week and I don't live on my laptop, I need some time to go through your blog. Thanks!  016.   I'm sorry, but I don't write modern verse for any of my muses. This means that you need to have a fantasy or fandom verse; that said, only some muses work in a generic fantasy setting. Very specific "modern" AUs might be doable -- just ask.

PLEASE NOTE that these lists of ships is NOT exhaustive!! I'm giving some general ideas to go off of here, with both canon characters and character types / tropes that I think might work. You can always ask me if you want to try out an idea, as long as it's not a "no go." Those are the ships I don't have an interest in writing - this usually just comes down to personal taste and is not a reflection of anything else. I am not interested in writing any kind of romantic or sexual ship with Astarion. This is a personal preference. I am potentially / probably open to platonic dynamics even if I don't ship something.

drowcanons

A list of headcanons and/or pieces of canon information about drow that are applied to my drow muses.

high resistance to poison   Drow are highly resistant to most poisons, with the only major exceptions being contact poison or poisonous gases.
canon fact  ✧  source: Forgotten Realms wiki
tremendous magical resistance   Adult drow at a base level can overcome magic about half the time; more often if specifically trained for it. Even if a drow fails to overcome a spell, they are still significantly less affected by magic than other races. They have a much better chance than other races at resisting magic that bends a person's will.
canon fact  ✧  source: Forgotten Realms wiki
mimicry   All drow are able to mimic sounds and voices at an innate and believable level, especially if they are particularly familiar with someone's voice / language.
canon fact  ✧  source: Forgotten Realms wiki
innate magic   All drow are able to use certain spells. This includes creating motes of dancing lights and summoning globes of darkness, which, if a drow is trained, can be moved around or increased in size at will. All drow can use faerie fire, and it can come in different colors depending on the drow.
canon fact  ✧  source: Forgotten Realms wiki
natural powers   Mature drow manifest their 'natural'/innate powers, such as levitation, discerning someone else's alignment, and detecting nearby magic. Of my drow, Lyr can levitate; Rhys can discern someone else's alignment (reading their body language, mostly), and Bree can detect nearby magic. Nicky, being half-drow, does not have access to these abilities.
canon fact  ✧  source: Forgotten Realms wiki
light sensitivity   Drow have a really hard time in sunlight, but this can be overcome with enough time and exposure. Drow new to the surface usually wear hoods of some kind, not only to shield their identities, but because it helps to protect their eyes from direct sunlight until they adjust to the difference in brightness. Drow who are new to the surface will have a disadvantage in combat, and any drow armor will begin to rapidly lose its magic. A drow on the surface will squint a lot.
mixed canon/headcanon ✧  source: Forgotten Realms wiki / hc
darkvision / infrared vision   Drow have two methods of sight in darkness; the first being darkvision for low-light areas and the second being infrared vision for extreme low-light / no light areas. What might appear as pitck black darkness, or a black stone, to a topsider would appear in multiple colors and temperatures to a drow.
mixed canon/headcanon  ✧  source: Forgotten Realms wiki / hc
agility / weapons & dominance   Drow are the undisputed kings of the Underdark. They are naturally agile and quick on their feet; even someone like Rhys, who is over a foot taller than the average drow, is still more agile than most surfacers. Most drow prefer lighter weapons in combat. Rhys prefers heavier ones that won't go flying off into the abyss when he swings them.
canon fact  ✧  source: Forgotten Realms wiki
mutable eye color   In extreme / rare circumstances, a drow's natural eye color can change; for example, in an extreme shift in personality or ideology. This is most commonly seen in drow who have forsaken Lolth or fled Menzoberranzan. Rhys' eyes were originally red like his siblings' eyes; however, they turned silver when he formally rejected Lolth and fled the Underdark permanently. Although Bree and Lyr have also left the Underdark, they are more affected by it than Rhys.
headcanon  ✧  source: me, inspired by canon eye color changes

lolthsworn abilities   Drow who were touched by Lolth could summon clouds of darkness, inside of which only the caster would be able to see. Lolth-sworn drow could also cast an upgraded version of faerie fire called darkfire, and a web of darkness to ensnare enemies and limit their vision. Both Rhys and Bree have access to these powers.
canon fact  ✧  source: Forgotten Realms wiki
fighting / combat styles  Drow have multiple combat styles that focus on different skillsets / schools. Rhys uses an extremely rare fighting style called z'ress athalak or force of war, which focuses on the user's raw physical strength. It is very uncommon for drow, who are usually physically weak and frail.
canon fact  ✧  source: Forgotten Realms wiki
use of poisons  Among the residents of the Underdark, drow are the most superior in crafting poisons, and often train themselves to resist it by ingesting ever-larger amounts of toxins and poisons. So, a poison or toxin that might kill a regular surfacer would probably only give a drow a bit of indigestion or a mild stomach ache, unless they had no previous exposure to it or something like it. Bree has the best poison immunity out of the siblings, but Rhys is only a little behind her. Lyr has the lowest immunity.
canon fact  ✧  source: Forgotten Realms wiki
eye color  A drow's eye color could indicate mood / state, such as flashing red for anger or turning yellow if a drow was sick, poisoned, or under some sort of negative magical influence. An angry drow's eyes will remain red until they are no longer angry, and eyes will remain yellow or another respective color until the intense emotion has passed.
mixed canon/headcanon  ✧  source: Forgotten Realms wiki / hc
height and weight   The average drow is somewhere around five feet tall, with heights ranging from 4'7 to 5'5. Males weigh about 87-160lbs and females weigh slightly less. Rhys is therefore exceptionally unusual, as he is about 6'2 and weighs about 190lbs. Bree is average at 5'5. Lyr is within average height expectations at 5'2. Nicky, being only half-drow, is more similar to average human women in height and weight.
canon fact  ✧  source: Forgotten Realms wiki
sign language   Drow warriors / fighters have a hand-language or sign language that they use to communicate when making any sort of sound or noise is dangerous. It is nearly indecipherable to outsiders, and tends to look more like spellcasting than communication. Drow can use different colored faerie fire to communicate over long distances.
canon fact  ✧  source: Homeland novel / Forgotten Realms wiki
intelligence   The average drow is highly intelligent, moreso than many surfacer races, and is keenly aware of their surroundings at all times. They are able to read environments, people, and shifts in body language to an expert level. This can, however, lead to paranoia. Drow are usually not well-versed in knowledge about the surface, especially when it comes to surface religions and gods.
canon fact  ✧  source: Forgotten Realms wiki
marks of lolth's embrace   Drow who have gained the favor of Lolth have spiderweb-like marks on their bodies. These usually look like thin white lines spreading out from a singular point, usually close to either the nape of the neck, the chest, or the groin. These lines are called "Marks of Lolth's Embrace" and cannot be removed. They signify that the bearer belongs to Lolth, even in exile. Rhys has these marks on the back of his neck, going down through his shoulderblades. Bree's weave around her hips and groin.
mostly headcanon  ✧  source: mentioned here.

dragon age world state

To make things easier for myself, I only have one world state for my Dragon Age muses. This maintains consistency and gives me less to remember. Unfortunately, my Cousland and Hawke do not share the role very well and are not available as companions. Lavellan has a companion verse, but Rook can only be Rook in verses where my Cousland was the HoF. Sorry, I had to make it complicated.

ORIGINS.

hero of ferelden   Clare Murtagh Cousland, female human warrior / archer / artificer / alchemist
she romanced   Alistair (she declined the opportunity to become queen and although they tried to make it work, they eventually were forced by duty and circumstance to separate. She still loves him, but acknowledges later on that this ending might have been inevitable.)
companions   All recruited, all personal quests completed.
redcliffe   Rescued Redcliffe, Conor lived unpossessed, Isolde lived.
broken circle   Sided with the mages.
urn of sacred ashes   Did not defile the urn. Did take an extra pinch without telling anyone.
nature of the beast   Brokered peace.
paragon of her kind   Bhelen rules Orzammar, sent Dagna to the circle
  the landsmeet   Alistair made king
the battle of denerim   Clare made the final blow against the Archdemon, and thanks to Morrigan, she survived.
return to ostagar dlc   completed. She takes Duncan's obsidian dagger, but Alistair gets everything else.
warden’s keep dlc   Accepted the power of blood. Allowed Avernus to continue his research in a more ethical fashion. (Later, during inquisition, she gives Erimond to Avernus as a “present” to experiment with as he pleases in order to “serve the needs of the Grey Wardens.”)
awakening   Architect killed, somehow saved (most of) Amaranthine and the Keep, Nathaniel recruited and made her constable.
personal headcanons   Some time between da2 and DAI, Clare does find a cure for the blight within Wardens. She (along with Nathaniel) cure themselves, but keep it a secret until they’re sure the effects can be mass-produced and replicated reliably. The initial formula, however, is something that must be taken regularly to maintain effectiveness. It successfully staves off the degenerative effects of the darkspawn taint, while still granting Wardens their special abilities ...as long as they continue to take it. If a Warden stopped taking the mixture, the effects of the calling would resume after a certain amount of time.

EXODUS / II.

hawke   Margaret “Margo” Victoria Hawke, female human mage
she romanced   Anders. Supported Anders in Act iii and chose to run away with him.
companions   All recruited, all personal quests resolved.
siblings   Bethany died escaping Lothering, Carver became a Grey Warden. Carver survived the final battle in Kirkwall.
act 1   Opposed templars at nearly every turn. Killed Kelder, Danzig, Karras, and Idunna. Sent Feynriel to the Dalish.
act 2   Killed Varnell, Gascard, and the Arishok. Did not give Isabela to the qunari. Sent Feynriel to Tevinter.
act 3   Rescued Nathaniel. Let Zevran go. Reunited Gamlen and Charade. Sided with the mages and fought for them alongside Anders.
legacy dlc   Sided with Larius, found Malcolm’s will.  personal headcanons   Margo asked Anders to fight alongside her for the mages after the Chantry explosion, knowing it would make them both criminals (if they weren't already). They fled together and eventually settled in rural Ferelden, somewhere west of what used to be Lothering. After ten years of chaos and struggle, both of them just wanted a quiet, peaceful life. Margo went through extensive effort to ensure no one would find them.Margo volunteered to stay back in the fade later during inquisition, only because she knew she had a better chance to survive than Finn did. But after defeating the nightmare demon, she was found by the same spirit of resilience whom Malcolm had drawn forward to reverse her tranquility.

The spirit then guided her towards a weak spot in the veil where she was able to slip out and back into the real world. She landed somewhere in Rivain, reuniting with Isabela while she recovered. She eventually made the long journey back to the south to reunite with Anders.
She comes out of retirement for DAV, assisting Finn and Clare in the effort to save Southern Thedas -- but really, please leave her alone once all this is done.

INQUISITION.

inquisitor   Fionnbharr “Finn” Lavellan, male elven archer
  he romanced   Dorian
companions   Recruited most companions, some personal quests completed (Cassandra, Blackwall, Josephine, Leliana, Cullen, Varric, Dorian. Finn did not recruit Vivienne and did not complete Iron Bull or Sera's quests.)
the wrath of heaven   Declared the Inquisition for order. Vehemently denied being the “Herald of Andraste.”
mage-templar war   Asked for support from the mages.
wicked eyes and wicked hearts   Celene and Briala reunited, Gaspard killed.
what pride had wrought   Drank from the well, respected the rites.
here lies the abyss   Grey Wardens allied
doom upon all the world   Leliana made divine
trespasser   Disbanded the inquisition. vowed to stop Solas.
personal headcanons   Finn is a brand new inquisitor, so I’m still getting to know him! However, he’s very much not a leader - he’s an artisan/craftsman - and simultaneously feels like he has no choice but to trust these humans around him, and feels very reluctant to trust them. On an individual level he doesn’t hate humans, but as a group he is aware that they can be very dangerous. Finn naturally favors solutions that are compassionate towards elves, children, and the disenfranchised. He has a difficult time getting along with Sera - she eventually leaves - and does not recruit Vivienne. Sometimes, he wants to learn from Solas. Sometimes, he gets on his nerves. There’s something about Solas that makes him hesitate to fully give his trust. Additionally, Finn never wanted to go the conclave - something he expressed repeatedly. Alas, no one listened. It's difficult for him to trust the humans that have suddenly surrounded him because of the heavy religious overtones, but as things progress, he begins to understand his role in this journey and commits to it fully. Finn did not recruit Vivienne. Sera left. Bull did not stay with the Inquisition.

VEILGUARD.

rook   Lorien “Rook” Cousland, male elven mage
  he romanced   Bellara
companions   All recruited, most quests completed. He likes Bellara, Emmrich, and Davrin best. All companions became heroes of the veilguard. Emmrich did not become a lich. Lorien prioritized Grey Warden missions over most others.
when the blighted dragons attacked, he saved   Treviso.
the griffons   Were returned to the Grey Wardens.
at weisshaupt, he   Did not punch the First Warden, but he sure did think about it.
at the final battle, he   Thought about it and then punched Solas in the teeth.
personal headcanons   Lorien has a canon-divergent backstory, but this does not affect events in-game. He will just reference different people/events/places. He was born in the Denerim Alienage and later, after he was caught stealing, was dropped on the doorstep of Vigil’s Keep, where he trained until he turned 18 and was old enough to take the joining. Afterwards, the Warden-Commander of Ferelden, Clare Cousland, began training him as her protege, to one day take her place when she was gone. After the events of Veilguard and things begin to settle, his commander, Care Cousland, is asked to step into the role of First Warden. Clare subsequently asks Lorien to take over for her as Warden-Commander in Ferelden, admittedly much earlier than she planned for. Lorien knew that was always the goal, but he felt nervous about it until she also asked Nathaniel to temporarily take over as Arl of Amaranthine.

With his warden family at his side, Lorien felt ready to become Ferelden's next Commander of the Grey. Although the shoes he's got to fill now are larger than life, he feels up for the challenge. If Clare stays in Ferelden, he continues to serve under her command.

FANDOMS LIST

If you fandom is not on here,  it is not personal, but I am probably not going to follow back because I can't see myself writing in much else other than the below. I dislike winging it unless I know you very well ooc. I really do need at least some common ground context in order to feel motivated for a thread.
In some cases I'm only familiar with the TV show / movie version   or it's just been so long that that's the only one that's really clear in my mind. If I already know the fandom I'm happy to cross-reference with wikias as long as you don't mind me making a mistake here and there.

NPCS

Characters here are not muses, but are still important parts of my actual muses' backstories that may be referenced at some point. This is mostly here for my own reference. I might bring them in as guest muses on specific threads, or I guess if the mood strikes you, I'm not opposed to someone writing them?

JYSAFAE EILSARYN    —  Rhys' “wife” in Menzoberranzan. She took him as her jabbar or lesser male concubine after he proved himself at both the martial academy and in the city's army. A cruel but lazy woman, Jysafae only paid attention to Rhys when she wanted sex or someone killed. On the other hand, this meant he was free to spend most of his time with the army, where he was, at least, equal to the other men. About 15 years before Rhys escaped Menzoberranzan, she bore his son, but never bothered to introduce them. She was no better a mother than she was a person.

ISTRAK EILSARYN MELZZAVAR    —  Rhys' son with Jysafae. He never met Istrak while they were both in the Underdark, as he was deep in service to Lolth at the time and was thus largely unreachable, even by Jysafae. Istrak took after his father in height and strength, but saw his opportunity to flee the Underdark before he was sent to Melee-Magthere. Istrak scrambled his way through the Underdark with great difficulty, stopping in deep gnome and drow cities along the way, until he found Rhys on the surface after the events of the game.

CALAONAR DO'SEK    —  A student at Sorcere in the same class as Lyr, he was in love with Lyr almost from the first time they met, but love, as any drow knows, is a liability and a luxury often only afforded to female nobility. He never told Lyr how he felt. Cal and Lyr nonetheless became and stayed good friends throughout their time at Sorcere. When Bree died and Rhys slaughtered his way out of the city and Lyr was taken into custody to be punished in Rhys' place, Cal snuck out of the city and tracked Rhys down in Baldur's Gate to help rescue Lyr from Menzoberranzan.

JENEY    —  A human girl about the same age as Bel and Van, Jeney's father kicked her out of the house at seventeen when she refused to marry the son of a wealthy patriar, which would have elevated her family up from nothing and into something. She met the boys when they were sulking back to the Elfsong after another failed job. Over time, the three began to spend more and more time together, until eventually, they realized that they all had developed feelings for each other. Together, they ventured into new territory as three people in one relationship. Jeney had a child with Bel.

BEL    —  Van's childhood friend-turned-lover. Bel grew up in the same orphanage as Van, and, being elven boys around the same age, the two became friends almost immediately. They also became menaces, getting into all sorts of trouble. At sixteen, the boys left the orphanage and started trying to make their own way in Baldur's Gate, though more often than not, they ended up broke, beat up, and in jail for the night. Unlike Van, Bel does remember bits and pieces of his family, though he doesn't like to talk about it very much. He taught Van Omano, the language of his high-elf clan ( in-world equivalent to Dominican Spanish. )

NEIA    —  Back in Amaranthine, Neia is the Archivist / Keeper of Lists / Master Organizer of Vigil's Keep. An elf from Denerim, Neia reminds you a little bit of a hummingbird constantly buzzing about, but somehow she manages to take the massive amount of paperwork that comes with running a Keep and make it look like child's play. Neia is an archer, but rarely goes into battle. She has a secret crush on one of the human Wardens, a woman named Rylle, except it's really not much of a secret to anyone who's paid attention for longer than five seconds. Unfortunately, Rylle is equally as shy and awkward as Neia.

CLARE COUSLAND

[         art by xla-hainex        ]

[         art by starnoire        ]

The only daughter born to the teryn and teryna of Highever, Clare spent most of her childhood as a terror to her older brother Fergus, always chasing after him, Nathaniel Howe, and their other friends - even if that friend was the next king. Aside from an illness that left her with scarred vocal cords and a scratchy voice, nothing ever really went wrong. As a teen, she fell in love with Rory -- Ser Gilmore -- and yet kept that affection quiet, because she knew it could never happen. Dairren and other suitors never stood a chance.Life at Castle Cousland was nothing short of luxurious and privileged. There were trips to Denerim and Redcliffe and West Hill and Dragon’s Peak, imported foods and wines and goods from Orlais and Antiva and Rivain, week-long visits from King Maric and other nobility. And some even saying Bryce should have become king, according to the Lorens. All in all, though, Clare didn’t really have a lot of direction growing up. It was always assumed her parents would one day find someone she liked enough to marry. It was also rumored that she was the favorite to inherit Highever despite being the younger sibling. So she would either go be lady of someone else’s castle ( not her first choice ), or she would become teyrna and someone would come be lord of hers ( a decent option ). She almost assumed that someone might even be Nate, once Fergus married Oriana, because she knew Rendon had wanted him to marry Delilah instead.None of that ended up happening, anyway. No one could have anticipated the night that changed her life forever. On the same day that the Grey Warden Duncan appeared at the castle, Rendon Howe of Amaranthine had come to ride out with the Couslands of Highever - and when Castle Cousland's forces were diminished after Fergus took most of their men into the Korcari Wilds, Arl Howe attacked. Most of the castle residents and other guests were killed, including Clare's parents. Her parents' dying words were to join the Grey Wardens and do what's right. To make her mark upon the world. There came the moment, then, when she realized her parents were going to die, and nothing she could do would ever change that. Duncan pulled her from the fray and to safety, bringing her to Ostagar. Clare's journey as a Grey Warden began there. She grew rigid and unforgiving during the blight, holding herself in a vice grip to keep her team together. Always clever and good at reading people, these talents grew into something manipulative and lethal as she realized that if she didn't make hard choices about the future, no one else would.

As Commander, Clare thrived. Life at Vigil's Keep got off to a rough start, but leadership had always fallen naturally on to her shoulders, and this was no different. She saved Anders from the circle, made peace with Nathaniel, reunited Oghren with his family, spent long nights talking to Justice about the real world and the fade, befriended Sigrun and Velanna.Clare continued to have influence within Fereldan politics despite her title, either directly through her own voice, or through that of her brother Fergus. She pushed for growth and reforms at ground zero: Rebuild roads and villages, get the farmers back to work and get everyone fed, bring Fereldans back from Kirkwall, give elves the same opportunities as humans and lay the foundation for structural changes that would hopefully, one day, see elves be treated as equal citizens. She devoted much of her time to building the strongest relationship the Wardens and Orzammar had seen in two hundred years; together, she and Bhelen worked to pull the casteless up into stability, to push back the darkspawn in the Deep Roads, to recover old thaigs, and much more. On the surface, she strengthened ties with Orlesian and Marcher Wardens, and collaborated with her brother and King Alistair to form a united vision for the future of Ferelden.Once Ferelden began to stabilize, she pivoted towards finding a cure for the Calling, enabling Avernus to do ethical research to support the Grey Wardens. This paid off eventually, and she was able to cure both herself and Nathaniel, though she knew there was much more work to be done before this could be made public. When a pair of elven gods escaped in Northern Thedas and Blight began spreading more rapidly and more intensely than ever before, the Grey Wardens of Ferelden stepped up to the challenge. Much was lost, but they were able to hold northern Fereldan long enough for Lorien, her protege, to defeat the gods. Exhausted at the idea of having to rebuild the country again, but still ready for the challenge, Clare was then met with a different problem: the First Warden was dead, and there were no Warden-Commanders left with equal or more experience than she had.Reluctant to leave her homeland, Clare nonetheless accepted the title of First Warden and relocated to the Anderfels, where she was tasked once again with rebuilding the Order, repairing a giant Keep, and finding ways to calm the chaos. But this time, with Lorien taking over as the new Warden-Commander in Ferelden and Nathaniel assuming his heritage title of Arl of Amaranthine, Clare felt like she could finally release the breath she'd been holding in for the past twenty years.

INTERACTION GUIDE

  • Coming from high nobility herself, second only to royalty, she blends in easily with nobility and upper society regardless of where she is. Your muse could meet her at some some sort of event. She is most likely there to collect information.

  • Since her injury, she has adapted to a different fighting style, and invents her own alchemical / elemental bomb arrows, which explode on contact and cause catastrophic damage to the target. Maybe this sparks some sort of interest in your muse?

  • You can find her spending the night at a tavern or inn as she travels around the nearby location, though she'll most likely be gone by morning.

  • DRAGON AGE. She's just returned from the lands beyond far to the west - is your muse at Vigil's Keep? Do they know about the search for a cure?

  • BALDUR'S GATE 3 / D&D / CRIT ROLE. Clare has come to your muse's world from somewhere far to the east, well beyond the mountains and deserts, though she does not divulge this. Does your muse notice anything that mind clue them in to the fact that she's keeping a secret? Do they potentially want to go with her when she returns home?

VERSES

  ORIGINS     Main Verse.
Takes place during the fifth blight at any point after Ostagar. Through Morrigan's ritual, Clare and Alistair both survive.
  AWAKENING    Canon.
Takes place during the Awakening DLC, up until the start of the Inquisition. During this time, Clare travels far and wide in her search for anything to help with a cure for the blight.
  INQUISITION    Canon.
Clare holds the fort down in northeastern Thedas while the Inquisition does its thing. In 9:41, an Amaranthine City Guard drops and orphaned elven boy named Lorien on her doorstep.
  VEILGUARD    Canon.
Takes place during Veilguard. Clare and the Fereldan Wardens stay in the South to fight the good fight alongside Margo and Finn. She frets a lot about Lorien, who's gone north with Varric to find Solas.
  FIRST WARDEN.   Canon.
After the events of Veilguard, the Wardens need a new First Warden. Clare is asked to take on this duty, and although she doesn't want to, she heads north to assume the position of First Warden. Romanced partners can talk her out of it and convince her to stay in Amaranthine.
  CROSSOVER    AU.
Clare's default crossover verse. On her journey to find a cure for the Blight, she wanders into and out of places never before conceived of in Thedas, either through wild magic, previously unknown connected geography, or something else. In each journey, her goal is the same: find a cure.
  BALDUR'S GATE 3    AU.
Clare arrives in Faerûn from somewhere far to the east. She keeps the finer details a secret, but has managed thus far navigating a new world where most things don't make a lot of sense to her. Before arriving in Baldur's Gate, however, she is caught by the mindflayers and infected with a tadpole. Clare's verse from here proceeds along a fairly standard good-aligned route, the major difference being that she lacks a lot of background context on muc of anything. Her order is essentially an order of quasi-Paladins who have taken into their bodies the magical corruption of ancient dragon gods and turned it into a weapon against them. After the end of Act 2, the tadpole, unable to bear the blight inside Clare's blood, crawls out of her head. The tadpole dies and she is freed from the threat of ceremorphosis. Although she stays with the party until the end of the Absolute threat, she will always leave at the end of this verse, though a romanced partner - or anyone who wants to, really - is free to come with.
  D&D / CRITICAL ROLE    AU.
This verse is more or less identical to her Baldur's Gate 3 verse. She can ally with your muse for whatever their current cause is, as long as it's good-aligned, but she will always leave at the end of the campaign to return to her home. If your muse can help her find some sort of magic or medicine that might help her order (quasi-Paladins who have taken into their bodies the magical corruption of ancient dragon gods and turned it into a weapon against them), she might be able to stay longer.

MARGO HAWKE

[         art by artbyjem        ]

[         art by coolcorpses        ]

Margo is... Something different. The mercurial and outspoken eldest daughter of the Hawke family, she is in many ways like her father: an apostate, forward-thinking, loyal to her family. She is also damaged, blunt, and determined to remind the universe that she exists. Margo has the best interests of her loved ones at heart, but her friendship and love demands a lot of patience sometimes. She is often deeply mistrusting of the world around her, but for very good reason.Margo carries a terrible secret that she's kept for the past 15 years of her life. When she was 11, she accompanied her father out for a mission after swearing to the Maker and Andraste herself that she was old enough and ready to be treated like an adult. What no one expected were templars to be out looking for apostates. Things quickly went south and Margo was taken and brought to Kinloch Hold. The situation escalated enough that the two templars who brought her in panicked and forced tranquility upon her without authorization. To no mage's surprise, they faced little, if any, consequence.A year passed before Malcolm was able to sneak her out of the tower and reverse her tranquility using blood magic. But when she returned home, it became clear that she was not the same as when she'd left. For years, she refused to leave her room, the house, without Carver and her mabari ; she was past twenty the first time she agreed to go with Bethany into Lothering to sell potatoes.Six months before the battle of Ostagar, Margo began a careful relationship with a sweet, shy boy in the village named Jed. He was her first everything. Jed was called away to fight, along with Carver, but only one of them returned from the slaughter. Margo began to wonder if she was cursed. The way she puts it, one day she woke up and decided she no longer wanted to be afraid -- that she wouldn't let the Circle and the templars hold this fear and power over her. If she made herself the most dangerous person in the room, no one would ever be able to hurt her again.

Anyone who was at Kinloch Hold in 9:14 might well remember the rumor about the little girl brought in screaming, and the moment when the screaming stopped -- the rumor about the youngest person to have ever been made tranquil, and the day she disappeared. Dead -- killed? Murdered? No answer was ever given; in fact, it's more likely that Margo's entire existence was covered up.She's had a long time to re-learn emotions and how to cope with them, as well as figure out her own identity, but this was a deeply traumatizing event for her, and she deals with the aftermath of it to this day. Indeed, nearly all of her abrasive and brash personality now is the result of this single event. If she was ever a soft and sweet girl like Bethany, Margo feels too damaged and hurt to ever be that way again. She tends towards confident and direct, though with something scared and volatile simmering just beneath the surface. With very little respect for "the way it's always been," Margo has a hard time keeping her opinions to herself. That said, she can also be prone to moments of spontaneous and perhaps illogical mercy, even when it might go against her actions in the past or her beliefs in general. No one will fight harder for you than Margo Hawke. With her emotions still amplified by "waking up" from tranquility, everything feels larger.Leading her family in the escape from the Blight, which was overtaking Lothering, Margo joined up with Aveline and Ser Wesley, two others who were fleeing the chaos. Her younger sister Bethany fell in battle against an ogre, leaving a void in the family that would never be fliled again. She holds a visceral hatred against templars and the chantry, to the extent that she would have very willingly assisted in Anders' plot if he'd only told her about it. Margo wants the world to know how awful the chantry truly is, and her compromised ability to control herself coupled with her just-beneath-the-surface anger at the injustice forced on her, gives her a very low tolerance for the chantry, templars, or anyone who supports them.

VERSES

  KIRKWALL: ACT 1     Canon.
Takes place during the timeline of Act I after she pays off her debts to Meeren for getting her into the city. Starts at about where Hawke meets Varric, and continues on through each act until the end of the game.
  INQUISITION    Canon.
Margo comes out of retirement, briefly, because Varric asked her to help the Inquisition.
  VEILGUARD.   Canon.
Once again, she comes out of retiremet because Varric asked her to. She helps Clare and Finn defend Ferelden.
  BALDUR'S GATE 3    AU.
Born to a kalashtar family far away, Margo was deeply connected with the quori spirits. Although her mother and younger brother were not bound to a spirit, her sister and father shared this trait with her as well. Her life was fairly standard for that of a girl raised on a farm: feed the chickens, collect the eggs, take vegetables to town to sell at the market. Although most kalashtar were insular if friendly enough, her father, Malcolm, had fallen in love with a normal human woman named Leandra, and together they had decided to raise their family closer to hers, a few days away from Baldur's Gate.

Margo's her specific quori was a benevolent one . . . up until a rogue paladin order sworn to protect and defend against extraplanar threats, known as the Watchers, severed her from her quori when she was eleven years old. The resulting separation seemed to not only take away her magic, but alter her personality as well, at a psychic level: she no longer displayed emotions. She no longer expressed any desire for anything, even food or water. She expressed no will, no sentiment, no nothing.

It was as though she'd become a hollow shell, barely a person but for the fact that her lungs still breathed and her heart still beat.

It took him two years, but Malcolm finally managed to find her quori and reconnect it to his daughter, but the amount of magical and psychic energy it took sapped his soul, and he passed away not long after Margo returned to waking, though it took years still for her to feel human again. She is now on a journey to seek vengeance against the Watchers and protect those like herself.

She can be Tav or a Companion; her personal quest will center around tracking down the specific Watcher who severed her from her quori years ago and killing him and his unit.. If Margo is Tav, she was captured and brought on board the Nautiloid while chasing down the Watcher responsible for her past. If she is a companion, she will be recruitable near Waukeen's Rest, where she was staying while also hunting down the Watcher. She will not be tadpoled as a companion.

Margo's magic centers around telekinesis and psionic abilities, mixed in with some storm spells that can summon tornadic storms to cause incredible destruction. She is a powerful sorcerer who makes an excellent damage-dealer, but offers very little in the way of support or buffs . . . unless you count tossing enemies around like ragdolls to be supportive?

FINN LAVELLAN

[         art by rebluna        ]

[         art by leoarti        ]

The story of Fionnbharr Lavellen is . . . really nothing special, for the first almost-thirty years of his life. Fionnbharr - known to most both in and out of the clan as Finn - was born into Clan Lavellan somewhere in what the humans call Tantervale, in the middle of Bloomingtide. The warm weather that followed him for the first few months of life was delightful for his parents, and most of Finn's life was, actually, not too bad at all. Nothing remarkable, but enjoyable nonetheless. As a boy, he was assigned chores like any other Dalish child, but more often than not, adults and elders would find him napping in a patch of sunlight with the clan's halla, or using one as a pillow as he whittled away a piece of wood into a figurine of some sort.As a result, Finn was often in trouble for slacking off as he grew up, but he'd always say: can you really blame me for napping with the halla when it's nice and warm out?The answer was yes, despite his best efforts, but it was clear very early on that Finn enjoyed the simple pleasures and simple joys of life.Once he grew into a teenager, he was given a bow and a quiver full of arrows, and started learning how to hunt. Most of the other boys excelled in their training and quickly started bringing down rabbits, foxes, birds, and other creatures of the forest that, whose furs and teeth and bones were used by the clan for various purposes.Finn, on the other hand, could barely nock it straight; it took him twice as long as the others just to hit a target. He was never much for hunting, as it turned out, though his aim did eventually improve, despite his best efforts to remain as mediocre as possible so that he would never be asked to take a life again.

So, Finn 'resigned' himself to the fact that he'd never amount to much of a hunter, and resumed his previous hobbies of napping with halla, carving wooden figurines, and generally not worrying about too much at all.He wasn't lazy - if he wasn't with the halla or up in a tree somewhere, he'd often be found helping whoever's grandmother needed heavy things carried, or reaching the top shelf.Finn grew to be just a bit taller than his fellow elves, and everyone took advantage of the fact that he could reach from his bare feet what everyone else needed a stool for.Everything changed when the fire nation attacked mage-templar war broke out.Clan Lavellan stayed out of it at first, because this was definitely just humans doing human things again. But then the mountain exploded and the sky was torn asunder, and it became an Everyone Problem. The clan debated about how to respond: should they respond? should they send delegates to investigate? should they reach out to the small number of trustable humans they knew to go in their place? But then the Conclave was announced, and the clan's elders decided to send a handful of elves to pose as servants and collect information.Finn's cousin, Durragh, was supposed to go - but he came down with a horrible headcold the day before, and Finn was asked to go in his stead. Then he was asked again when Finn said he wasn't sure he'd heard that right - him? A spy? Surely they were joking. They were not joking. Then, Finn became the inquisitor: The Finnquisitor, if you will.

VERSES

  INQUISITION     Main.
Takes place during the Inquisition timeline, starting at Haven and going up until end-game, following Finn's choices in the world state tab. He is not the best leader at first, considering he's never been the leader of anything at all. He begins to understand the true gravity of the situation after Redcliffe, and starts learning how to be a better leader.
  VEILGUARD.   Canon.
Although Finn settled into a quiet life with his beloved, dividing his time between their home and his clan, the return of the Evanuris and the blight demands his attention. As a former acquaintance of Solas, Finn feels obligated to offer his support to Rook and to help stop the blight from crushing the south.
  COMPANION.   AU.
Recruit Finn for your cause! Finn is recruitable most easily by elven inquisitors, though he is best suited to supportive roles on the sidelines. Please don't send him into combat; he probably won't die, but he doesn't enjoy it either. Other Inquisitors can recruit him too, but it's a little harder as he is less likely to trust them right away. Finn can provide counsel on the elven gods from an actually elven perspective (sorry Morrigan, we love you) or just be a friend and liaison between the Inquisition and Dalish clans around Ferelden and Orlais. If Clan Lavellan is killed, he leaves.
  BALDUR'S GATE 3    AU.
Finn is an oddball wood elf from an extremely reclusive clan called Lavellan, which itself is part of a larger group that calls itself the Dalish.
Clan Lavellan is reluctant to engage with modern society - but friendly enough if you do happen to cross their path. Just be respectful. Finn, however, likes to venture into cities more than most of his clan and collect all sorts of odd books and trinkets to bring back home. In his free time, he is a woodwoker and toymaker for the clan, and enjoys creating figurines of important figures in Dalish history. He can be recruited early on in Act 1, as he has somehow found himself traveling with the tieflings. No, he's not sure how, maybe he got lost? He was supposed to be in Baldur's Gate, but they seem to be going that way anyway . . . Finn is not tadpoled, but he's willing to come along on a bit of an adventure.Elven Tavs will have the easiest time recruiting him.In general, he approves of decisions which show kindness to children, animals, and the disenfranchised. He also approves of showing curiosity, having a good sense of humor, and holding one's own boundaries. Finn generally disapproves of cruelty, selfishness, and an abundance of power-hungry attitudes or ambition. He is a rogue archer who comes from an entire clan of druids and clerics, but he fiddles with alchemy sometimes for fun. In the beginning, he can be somewhat weak as a companion, but that's because he's never had to really fight before. If Tav invests time into their relationship with Finn, he becomes much better and much stronger.

LORIEN COUSLAND

[         art by marcela fr        ]

Shortly before the fated Battle of Ostagar, in 9:30 Dragon, a group of human nobles from Denerim invited themselves to a wedding in the city alienage – a woman with the last name Tabris was set to marry a blacksmith from the Highever alienage.By the Landsmeet a year later, everyone knows what happened – the men raped and abused the women, some of whom died from their injuries. One of them, a scrawny, mousy elven woman named Meira, survived, and to her disgust, bore a son nine months later, in 9:31, around the time that the fifth blight was ended by the Grey Wardens.

The boy looked too much like the human scum who had violated her, and she could not bring herself to care for him. The community helped, feeding and clothing the baby, but Meira could barely look at the child without feeling dread and fear rise up like bile in her gut. Each time she tried to play with Lorien or interact with him, the trauma came back, and she’d have to leave. The tears wouldn’t stop. The pain wouldn’t stop. She hated herself for hating her son, but she couldn’t bear to look at a physical memory of the single worst night of her entire life.Lorien grew up very aware that his mother didn’t treat him like other mothers treated their sons, but no one in the alienage would ever tell him why. He learned how to entertain and care for himself; eventually, he made friends with other kids in the alienage, and though their parents sometimes looked at him strangely, he was mostly tolerated by the adults and elders. When Lorien was seven, his mother fell into a relationship with a man who had moved from the Amaranthine alienage, and later, he became a big brother. His sister Eirina looked nothing like him, and much more like his mother, and the favoritism – intentional or not – was obvious. But the joy was short-lived, because his mother’s husband became severely ill the winter after Eirina’s birth, and passed in the middle of the night, choking on his own lungs. The house was very quiet after that. Lorien spent most of his time outside of the house, collecting trash for coppers and finding ways to make even the smallest bit of money to help support his mother and sister. Meira would always take the money with the briskest of thanks, but she still wouldn't look him in the eyes. One chilly autumn morning, when he was eleven, Lorien snuck out of the house early to go to the market and buy flowers for his mother. It was her birthday. He’d saved enough to buy one beautiful rose, and it didn’t even bother him when the human merchant sneered at him something nasty.Maybe this would finally help him earn back his mother's love.He knew something was wrong the moment he set foot in the alienage. Smoke was rising from the street his house was on, and he ran as quickly as he could towards it, his heart

pounding – but it was too late. His mother and sister both perished in the flames. Once again, no one would tell him exactly what happened. An adult in the alienage told him that it must have been an accident caused by the stove, but some small part of him always wondered if that was true.He began to act out – stealing, fighting, staying out all night and getting into trouble. With no one left to guide him and no one left to care, he was arrested twice in as many weeks. Eventually, fearful of being arrested a third time, Lorien stowed away on a wagon to Amaranthine. Almost immediately, he was caught stealing food – he hadn’t eaten in days. But the city guard were exhausted, because whatever magic bullshit was causing that Breach over the Frostbacks was causing trouble around the country too, and so the guard who arrested him decided that the city wouldn’t deal with this, but the Wardens probably could. And so Lorien was dumped at the doorstep of the Commander of the Grey, Clare Cousland. She refused to take him in at first. The Wardens are not an orphanage, and besides, there was nowhere for him to stay – they didn’t exactly have a host of furnished rooms available at a moment’s notice. But when he said he had no family left and he was only stealing because he was hungry, she relented and agreed to take him in.Lorien’s life turned around significantly from that point. The strict routines and discipline of the Grey Wardens gave him the structure he needed, and the stable presences of Clare and the other Wardens helped him settle. At least until magic suddenly manifested six months later, and he nearly set the throne room on fire. At first he was fearful that Clare would send him away to the Circle, because that’s what people did with mages, but both she and Nathaniel reassured him that they don’t send mages to Circles. Clare found him tutors, both academic and magical, and he began training with the acolytes, learning combat magic. At eighteen, Lorien requested to take the Joining. The Wardens had given him everything, had given him a good life – why shouldn’t he officially become one and fight for the woman whom he now saw as a mother? Clare was reluctant, but eventually agreed. The relief that she and the other adult Wardens felt when Lorien survived the Joining was palpable.Six years later, when Lorien was 24, he met Varric, an old contact of Nathaniel’s, who was assembling a team to fight someone named Solas. Lorien was eager to prove himself and volunteered to go with Varric. Clare made Varric swear on his mother’s life to bring her boy back safe and in one piece, then granted Lorien’s leave request. From there, Lorien’s story is largely canon, following his choices detailed in the World State page. After the events of Veilguard, Lorien returns to Amaranthine to be with his family. There, he either stays a Warden under Clare’s command, or takes over as Commander of the Grey if Clare accepts the position of First Warden in the Anderfels.

VERSES

  VEILGUARD     Main.
This verse starts when the game starts. Lorien's time building and becoming leader of the Veilguard as he fights back against the gods of his people.
As a city elf who grew up mostly around humans from age 11, he feels both curious about and disconnected from elven culture, and he struggles to reconcile his what he's grown up thinking and what's happening before him.Lorien struggles at first as a leader, as he's trying to imitate Clare, but eventually realizes that he doesn't need to be Clare - he needs to be Lorien. He has a particular interest in anything elven.    Companion verse also available.  POST-CANON.   Canon.
Once the fight against the gods is over and Clare is asked to take up the mantle of first warden in the Anderfels, Lorien is tasked with becoming the new commander of the grey in Ferelden.
In a world where all the old gods are dead, it's up to him and the First Warden to decide the future of the order. But first, the south needs to be stabilized and rebuilt after the sixth blight. If Clare does not become the First Warden, he stays in Amaranthine under her Command, though he maintains his strong connections in northern Thedas.  BALDUR'S GATE 3.   AU.
Lorien's background remains largely the same, except he was found alone on the road and adopted by a lone paladin named Clare, on her own journey.

He was raised by her and trained by her in the ways of her secret Order until it was time for him to seek out his future, at which point he said goodbye and left home.

Lorien can become either Tav or a companion at this point. When recruited, he is already a bladesinger and, despite his young age, is considerably powerful, if clumsy and a little too eager to prove himself -- he just wants to make Mom (Clare) proud.

If he is Tav, he's caught up somewhere outside of Baldur's Gate; if he's a companion, he can be found in Rivington, where he is helping the Fist collect donations for the refugees coming into town.

Assuming that he survives, Lorien will go back home after the campaign to Clare, in their town of Amaranthine.

Angus is Hawke's awkward, genius cousin on Malcolm's side, who swears that he did not burn down the circle at Starkhaven.Hint: he didn't. He mourns the library still.Angus speaks with the air of someone who's often spoken over, so he says everything very quickly before he gets spoken over again. He never actually met Malcolm, but remembers being told as a child that he had an uncle by that name who got carted off to Kinloch Hold, and that was that. Angus, too, was eventually sent to the circle tower, but was later transferred to Starkhaven.Angus is Malcolm’s nephew ; he does not take the place of the champion and is designed to work alongside them. He's one of the escaped Starkhaven mages who’s managed to not get caught.A decent mage, he’s more of a scholar than a fighter and prefers to stay out of the limelight. Sort of a clean freak. Angus can be recruited by Hawke or the Inquisitor. If the latter, will insist that he is not the Hawke they’re looking for.Angus can usually be found curled up in a chair next to a source of light, warmth, or both, with a book and a bowl of pasta.

VERSES

  DRAGON AGE II     Main.
After the Starkhaven circle is burned down, Angus is one of those who escapes. Though escapes is a strong word, because he didn't mind his life there. Still, without much else to do, he follows the others to Kirkwall, where he realizes someone has the same last name as him... and they're apparently related. Betting that they're probably decent, Angus tracks Hawke down and asks them to help him avoid the gallows. Then he moves in and builds a mini-library in his room.
  POST-CANON.   Canon.
With the Chantry blown up (thanks, Anders) and being a mage in Kirkwall looking pretty bad, Angus packs up his collection of books and travels south to Ferelden alongside Hawke. Just like last time, it's not like he really has anywhere else to go.
  INQUISITION.   AU.
Angus isn't really the religious fervor sort, but when Hawke goes to meet with the inquisition, he tags along because he's heard there's a fantastic library. He ends up meeting Dagna, the dwarven arcanist, and pestering her into letting him help with her research. Finally! His years of nerdery and study have paid off! Angus stays with the inquisition until it disbands, then moves to Denerim to give his cousin some space, finally.
  BALDUR'S GATE 3.   AU.
Angus is your typical somewhat reclusive wizard who studies under Elminster. He can be recruited, though he's very comfortable with his life actually, so it requires a high persuasion check. If Gale was never recruited or is not with the party (for whatever reason), Angus is easier to recruit. Otherwise, he spends most of his free time bothering Rolan and / or studying obscure magic. He is a devotee of Mystra and can sometimes be found at the temple in the lower city, though mostly because he wants to ask a lot of "what would happen if" questions to the goddess of magic.

If nothing else, he's some good comic relief.

THEA CARLISLE

WIP.

⋆Born in the Free Marcher city of Tantervale, Thea became a Red Jenny somewhat recently. Bio incoming, here's a quick run-down:⋆ both of her parents died of the wasting sickness when she was a child; she was taken in by an old seamstress and decently cared for, but she never quite fit in with a quiet life.⋆ at seventeen, Thea fell in love with a traveling minstrel from Orlais named Frédéric. When it was time for him to move on, he asked her to join him on the road. Caught up in the romance and fairytale of it all, she ran away with Frédéric on his journeys and spent her days dancing, drinking, and singing.⋆ the romance came to an abrupt end two years later when Frédéric was found murdered behind the tavern he had performed at the previous night. A few weeks later, Thea discovered she was pregnant. Stuck in Nevarra without any gold or family, Thea took a job washing dishes in the same tavern where Frédéric was murdered.⋆ the following winter she gave birth to a daughter whom she named Amélie. But Thea was still penniless and hungry, spending most nights on the street; there was no way she could have kept both of them alive.

⋆ she decided to give Amélie to the chantry, as she could think of no other way for her to survive. She bundled her up with a note explaining the situation, then placed her on the steps, knocked, and ran to hide behind some bushes. Thea said her last goodbye to Amélie as one of the sisters took her inside.⋆ in 9:36 at the age of 23, Thea found herself in Kirkwall. It was there that she befriended Charade Amell and was eventually recruited into the Red Jennies. She lived with Charade up until she decided to seek out the Inquisition, hearing that Sera was there as well.⋆ Thea can be recruited to the Inquisition on the way back from the Verchiel March quest, when she catches up with the party.⋆ one day she'd like to try and find her daughter again, but she's also afraid to face her. Thea struggles with her decision even if she knows it was best for both of them.⋆ she is allergic to fish and shellfish. Her favorite color is mauve. She has a very small trace of elven blood on her mother's side (about 1/4th), but this is not known to her. It was not known to Frédéric either.

RHYS MELZZAVAR

CONTENT WARNING   The following content warnings apply to Rhys' character & character backstory:drugging, rape, sexual assault / abuse, physical abuse / emotional abuse, sibling death, dehumanization, child neglect, murder, sex-based discriminationThese topics are either referenced or discussed in-character, and some of them - specifically, sibling death, his past sexual assault, and sex-based discrimination - cannot be avoided as they are an intrinsic part of why he is the way he is, though he won't bring it up very much in dialogue unless he's asked about it.

In late Marpenoth of 1400 DR, a pair of twins were born to Iraeymma Melzzavar, cousin to Prae’anelle Duskryn, and part of her house. To Iraeymma’s great disappointment, one of the twins was male, but as the first son of his generation, he would at least have use as the family’s master of arms someday, or he might bring the family honor at the Academy. The twins were named Iraebryn and Rhylnar. As they grew, Iraeymma faced further disappointment upon the realization that her daughter seemed exceptionally kind-hearted, which would not serve her well in Menzoberranzan. The son, Rhylnar, seemed to keep growing with no regard to what was average for drow; by the age of eleven, he was already taller than everyone in his immediate family. At age ten, Rhylnar began training with House Duskryn’s master-of-arms, who soon realized that the boy was not only a giant among his peers, but that he possessed exceptional physical strength. He learned to levitate and then some – he found he could push his training partners back when he did. He could conjure globes of darkness and read handfades just as well as his master. The swings of his sword cleaved through the air like magical blades. And he kept growing even still, with no explanation, only stopping when he already towered over both the tallest males and tallest females in his house.Despite his mother’s best efforts, he and his twin sister remained close throughout childhood and into their teenage years, even after Iraeymma burned Rhylnar’s face on hot coals as punishment for Iraebryn’s compassion. When Rhylnar entered Melee-Magthere at age 20, he was the favorite to win the grand melee, and he won for each of the ten years trained there. What Rhylnar lacked in stealth, he more than made up for in sheer strength. What he lacked in magical ability, he compensated for with height and weight; it became known that fighting him too close could just as easily get you thrown across the room as beaten by a blade. He made no friends, for no one could best him in combat; no one could even come close, and that caused shame to every other noble son of every other noble house. The six months he spent at Sorcere were the most boring, but the six months he spent among the priestesses, with the teachings of Lolth hammered into his thoughts at every moment, were the worst of all.

He graduated at 30 at the top of his class at the Academy. When, according to tradition, the top student of Sorcere summoned a fiend and filled the graduation chamber with a hazy smoke that made him feel light and dizzy, like he didn't care about anything at all, and took from him the control of his conscious mind. He was passed from priestess to priestess, each of whom wanted a turn to take him in her bed, in hopes she might gain a daughter equally or more tall and strong as the male.He awoke the next morning with barely any recollection of what had happened the night before. Disoriented, confused, and uncomfortable, Rhylnar gathered his clothes and left. Knowing that his body was used while he may as well have not been in it – knowing he had been drugged – made him feel dirty ashamed in a way he didn’t know how to put into words.

Rhylnar spent the next 10 years rising through the ranks of the guard; eventually, he became Captain of his own squad, and those who trained under him often adopted his brutal style of combat that left little room for argument. During those ten years, Iraeymma bore three more daughters: Jhaellure, Elendra, and Vasintra. Rhylnar only met them the once. When he turned 40, Iraeymma and her new concubine conceived and bore a son, named Lymeorvir. Rhylnar spent what time he could spare with him, but it was never enough to truly shield his little brother from the torment of being the only male. Not long after he started getting attention from the military, Rhylnar also earned the attention of a wealthy priestess, Jysafae Eilsaryn, who decided to take him as her jabbuk, or lesser spouse. Unable to decline unless he wanted to invite trouble, Rhylnar did as he was told. He was one of many men that Jysafae had taken as such, and when she was not taking pleasure from him, Rhylnar barely existed to her. Fortunately, he was still needed by the military, so he was able to spend most of his time away from her.Ten years later, a priestess came to him with a peculiar request to follow her.Rhylnar, ever obedient, kept his eyes averted as he followed the priestess through familiar corridors and eventually into those which were wholly unfamiliar. At some point, he realized he had entered a space that was only meant for females. He was told not to ask questions, so he did not.Rhylnar felt the blood drain from his body when he realized he was being brought before Lolth’s highest priestess, Her Own mouthpiece. As he waited for information or punishment, he tried to think of what he had done to be brought before the goddess herself, the verdict came down: he had won the rare favor of the Spider Queen, and he would now serve Her directly, cutting down Her enemies and anyone else She saw fit.For the next almost 40 years, he followed Lolth’s commands to the letter; but somewhere along the line, things stopped making sense. Rhylnar was already growing disillusioned with the rigid sex-based roles in Menzoberranzan. He realized, in pieces, that these female drow did not see him as a person – just a means by which they might procreate or take pleasure. No matter how strong or obedient he became, he would never be a person and he would never be allowed to decide his own fate. When Lolth was not using his body to kill, Jysafae reminded him that his body belonged to her, and she wanted tall and strong daughters, and it was his obligation to obey and provide. When he was able to disappear for a few hours, he would check in on his younger brother, but he was not able to do much to protect the boy from Iraeymma’s wrath and torment.

Rhylnar withdrew emotionally from everyone, except his twin sister, Bryn. She was the only person in the city that he trusted, but they rarely had the opportunity to see each other. Menzoberranzan used both their bodies to suit its own ends, two opposite sides of the same coin. But he didn’t know another choice except to endure. There had been no raids sent to the surface in decades; his own blooding was decades ago, and he had no place in any that went to the surface now. And for all his strength and combat prowess, he was a male. His only hope was to fulfill is role the best he could, and maybe he would live long enough for the opportunity to break away and run on the surface. His opportunity came more quickly than he thought. On a routine patrol, Rhylnar – who had already pushed a few boundaries by attempting to reject the unwanted sexual advances of priestesses – accidentally crushed a clutch of spider eggs while attempting to cut off a bridge from a pack of monsters. The scaffolding fell in a different way than he had expected, and he was sentenced to death.Bryn cried for hours into the night as she could do nothing but wait for his public execution. Then she had an idea: maybe it didn’t have to end like this. She sneaked into the prison and slipped sedatives into the guards’ wine goblets, stealing their keys once they were out. She clicked open the door to Rhylnar’s cell and ushered him out. Together, they could flee this miserable life and start new ones in the surface, as far away from Menzoberranzan as possible. The twins were almost out of the city when they were caught. For her actions in helping Rhylnar, Bryn was also sentenced to death. But when the twins were brought back to the council, a different sentence was meted out: They would fight to the death, and the winner might be granted the redemption of ‘indentured servitude.’But the twins refused to fight each other. Bryn’s spells missed on purpose, and Rhylnar’s sword-swings were sloppy and weak. They were given an ultimatum: for causing their House to fall out of Lolth’s favor, if one did not kill the other, they would both be transformed into driders.

Bryn acted first. She pretended to cast a spell, but feinted and grabbed his wrists, plunging his sword through her gut and pulling it in as deeply as she could. She died almost immediately from her wound, her red eyes apologetic.Rhylnar doesn’t remember the aftermath of that moment. When he returned to his senses, everyone in the room was dead. He realized what he had done: his mother, seven priestesses, a half-dozen guards, all butchered by his hand. He fled. It wasn’t until he’d killed his way out of the city and was well into the depths of the Underdark that he stopped to catch his breath. Lymeorvir was left behind, something that he regrets deeply.Rhylnar eventually made it to Sshamath, another drow city, and stayed there for four years, but was unable to integrate despite the fact that male drow were more powerful. As a fighter and not a wizard, he was still less-than, and it was still less suffocating, but still too much.In his primary verse as Tav, Rhylnar takes the drow tunnels to the surface above Sshamath and heads west towards the nearest city. He is caught just east of Elturel by the Nautiloid. In his companion verse, rather than go to the surface right away, Rhys takes the underground route west from Sshamath, where he encounters the party fighting the Beholder. He will assist in the battle, decimating it and the other drow, and can then be recruited if the party is friendly and willing to aid him in reaching the surface. In his companion verse, he is not tadpoled. After a few long rests in Baldur’s Gate, Rhys’ companion quest activates. This quest is available whether Rhys is Tav or not.Rhys' companion quest is a hard requirement for continuing his romance. If Tav or his romantic partner either declines to join him or prioritizes other quests, Rhys will break up with them without a chance to get back together. In his companion verse, Rhys will leave the party permanently if his companion quest is ignored for too long. Although he won't be found again in Baldur's Gate, some might hear rumors about two drow brothers heading north after the Absolute was defeated in Baldur's Gate.

  POSITIVE TRAITS
Highly disciplined, reliable, and honest. He does not specifically set out to be brave or heroic, but he nonetheless finds himself unable to simply ignore the suffering of the disenfranchised when he encounters it, even if aiding them would be inconvenient. He is true to his word and his patience is very long.

If he was forced to describe his own personality, he would say that he doesn't have one. Due to his upbringing, Rhys has little that he is passionate about, but he nonetheless remains curious about the world around him.
  NEGATIVE TRAITS
Rhys can be unforgiving and, when provoked or triggered badly enough, responds with physical force to reassert his autonomy and boundaries.

PERSONAL QUEST

When the twins catch word through another escaped drow, Calaonar Do'Sek, that their younger half-brother, Lymeorvir, is being tortured in Menzoberranzan, there is only one choice: go back into the city and smuggle him back to the surface. If the party broke into Raphael's house and freed Hope, they can access Menzoberranzan much more easily through the gate there. If not, Calaonar manages to open a portal to the Underdark, but nearly dies in the attempt. (DC 25 to save him)The rest is up to the twins and their companions to save their little brother before it's too late. However, the Underdark is dangerous even on a good day. Not to mention, Rhys is a criminal and a traitor in Menzoberranzan, and Bree is supposed to be dead.

VERSES

  BALDUR'S GATE 3     Main.
Any time during acts 1-3 or the epilogue. For some reason, everyone looks to him for leadership, although having already lead a squad in Menzoberranzan for ten years, he makes a surprisingly good leader. He takes advantage of the fear goblins feel towards drow, but is protective of children and animals. Rhys lets people make their own decisions, for better or for worse, and mostly focuses on strategy, combat, and the end goal. He takes a natural lead in battle and proves himself more than capable of handling his own and making good judgement calls. He is mostly a chaotic good / neutral good character.
  POST-CANON.   Canon.
Rhys' life after everything settles. Unable and unwilling to return to Menzoberranzan, Rhys continues living on the surface. (If romancing Karlach, he will not go into the Hells.)
Both romanced and unromanced, he finds the nearest Selûnite temple and expresses his desire to formally convert and become their sword. Although born in darkness and his methods perhaps a bit heretical, Rhys' commitment to Selûne is genuine.  DRAGON AGE.   AU.
Deep beneath the surface and virtually unknown except in obscure dwarven legend lies the city of Menzoberranzan, a place that was once a refuge for elves fleeing human persecution, but that has now descended into madness and cruelty.

Calling themselves the 'drow', these elves look nothing like their surfacer counterparts. With grey-purple-colored skin and shocks of white hair, the drow are violent, cut-throat backstabbers; Menzoberranzan is ruled by a vicious matriarchy where males are derided and lesser in status to elven slaves in Tevinter. Matron Mothers rule all. First-born sons are made to fight; second-born sons are taught magic, and the rest are sacrificed at birth to appease Lolth and earn her favor and magic.
Worshiped in Menzoberranzan is the spider god Lolth, whose particular brand of brutality is unlike anything topsiders have ever seen. However, pockets of resistance exist - followers of a counterpart god named Eilistraee, who seeks to free the drow from Lolth's clutches.

Rhys' backstory in this verse is identical to his canon bg3 verse. After being forced to fight his sister to the death - or face a punishment far, far worse than death for them both - Rhys kills his mother, the guards, the priestesses, and everyone else who was present. He flees the Underdark and kills his way to the surface. He can become a companion to the PC.
Rhys is an incredibly powerful front-line combatant with high resistance to damage and magic alike. He can also summon darkness at will and can see better in darkness than in light. By virtue of being drow, he also has access to certain racial abilities that look very similar to magic ... Rhys can only be recruited by good-aligned or neutral-aligned characters.  D&D / CRIT ROLE    AU.
Everything is the same except he reaches the surface in an area closeby to where your muse is located. He can be recruited to join the party and can serve as an incredibly powerful frontline fighter with extensive martial training and access to both racial drow abilities and unique abilities stemming from his former service to Lolth.

BREE MELZZAVAR

At five, Iraebryn began learning to sing and play the lute. At ten, she started learning how to identify poisons and sedatives; at twelve, she began to practice crafting them. At twenty, she began formally training as a bard, learning not only how to perform and entertain, but how to seduce and manipulate.Iraeymma watched the girl grow and realized she would make a poor priestess. Bryn loved her brother too much and did not seem to realize that, as a male, he was beneath her. She seemed unwilling to compete with the other girls her age, and despite her skill at mixing poisons and sedatives, she had little interest in using it to further her station. Iraeymma decided that Bryn would not go to Arach-Tinilith at 25, but would, instead, be tasked with making herself useful in some other way.

Still, Bryn was nonetheless educated in the worship of Lolth by her mother and the other women of House Duskryn who would eventually go on to become priestesses. She found it isolating and difficult; unfortunately, Rhylnar had already sent to the Academy at 20, and was largely unreachable, even to her. She withdrew emotionally from Iraeymma and her cousins and aunts, struggling to fit in amidst people who held so much violence and hatred in their hearts.

It almost didn't make sense. What was broken inside of her that made it so hard to hate?During the ten years between Rhylnar's departure to Melee-Magthere and when he finished, Iraeymma took new concubines and had three more daughters: Jhaellure, Elendra, and Vasintra. Wary of Bryn's influence over her new daughters, Iraeymma sent them away to live with the primary daughters of House Duskryn. Meanwhile, Bryn was taught how to disguise herself, and was forced to lure in enemies of her House and Lolth while disguised under the premise of exchanging sex for station. These enemies were always killed. When Bryn was 40, Iraeymma took another male to bed and eventually bore another son, Lymeorvir. Was this to be her fate for the rest of her life? Distanced from Rhylnar and Lymeorvir, the only people who she felt truly cared about her, Iraebryn became isolated and withdrawn. Then one day, everything changed. It was just a routine patrol and some easy battles against monsters of the Underdark - but when Rhylnar tried to cut off a bridge by shooting down a piece of scaffolding nearby, he accidentally crushed a clutch of spider eggs under the bridge in the process. He was sentenced to death. It would be public, and it would be bloody, and it would be brutal.Bryn cried for hours into the night as she could do nothing but wait for his public execution. There, they could start a new life where they'd be free to live how they wanted, and not how Lolth said they should.

They were given an ultimatum: for causing their House to fall out of Lolth’s favor, if one did not kill the other, they would both be transformed into driders.Bryn decided that she would rather die than hurt her brother. She impaled herself on Rhylnar's blade before the fight could continue, giving her own life in exchange for her brother's. She bled out on to the stone, with Rhylnar's face being the last thing she saw. What felt like moments later, she snapped back to life, somewhere she didn't recognize. In truth, five years had passed since her death. Confused and scared, Bryn struggled to her feet but collapsed under the flare of pain from her gut - the wound with which she killed herself still burned like it was new.It was then that a gentle silver light encompasses her, filling her body with newfound strength, and healing the old injury. A visage of Eilistraee appeared before her and explained that she had been reborn into a second life. Although Bryn would lose most of her abilities as a drow, Eilistraee would grant her new powers if she agreed to use them to fight a new evil known as the Absolute.Bryn only asked where her brothers were. Fighting the same evil was the response. Eilistraee explained that Rhylnar - Rhys now - had made it to the surface and was actively fighting the Absolute, making strong progress, but he would need help as the battles became more fierce. Leo - Lyr - was still in Menzoberranzan, though Lolth's power kept her from seeing the fine details.Eilistraee explained that this new life was only temporary. When the Absolute was defeated and all loose ends were tied up, Kelemvor would come to call, and she could not stop him. Although this second chance would not last forever,

Bryn would still have the chance to see her brothers again, to help save the world, and to hopefully experience some joy along the way.Bryn accepted the charge, becoming a Sword Dancer / Cleric of Eilistraee. She set out on her mission to find her brothers.Depending on verse / thread, Bryn can find him anywhere from Act 2 or onwards to Act 3, though I will default to Act 3 if we don't plot otherwise. Bryn in this verse is also only available if Rhys is Tav or a companion; she is not available in verses without Rhys.in au companion verses, Rhylnar acted first. He feinted a close attack and grabbed her wrists, plunging her dagger straight into his heart. As he died on his sister's blade, he tried to tell her not to feel guilty.Bryn wouldn't remember the immediate aftermath of that moment - just her knees hitting the ground and a scream so awful it must have come from somewhere else. She spent weeks rotting in bed, unwilling and unable to return to her obligations, until her mother had had enough of it, and forced her back to work.Somehow, her younger brother Lyr managed to brew an invisibility potion and sneak it out to her, enabling her escape. Bryn begged him to come with her, but there was only enough potion for one of them, and Bryn's escape was more urgent. She promised to come back for her brother when it was safe.Bree encounters the party as they are traversing the Underdark and she is not tadpoled. As Tav, Iraebryn reaches the surface and sheds her old name, becoming Bree instead. It's outside of a village on the surface near Menzoberranzan that she's caught by the mindflayers and taken to the Nautiloid ship. Her story then proceeds according to plot of Baldur's Gate 3, where she wakes up on the ship after being tadpoled.in all verses, in act 3, after a few long rests, her personal quest activates whether she is Tav or a companion. Her personal quest is a hard requirement for continuing her romance. If her personal quest is not completed, or if Tav hesitates too much or prioritizes other quests, Bryn will break up with them. If she is not tadpoled, she leaves the party permanently.

VERSES

  BALDUR'S GATE 3     Main.
Five years after her her death and Rhys escaped from Menzoberranzan to become Tav, the goddess Eilistraee, supported by her ally Selûne, made a deal with Kelemvor to resurrect Bree and charge her with finding her brother, who, himself, is on the path to stop the mindflayer invasion, which threatens even the gods.
She has lost most of her drow powers as a result of her death, but has gained the powers of a Grave Cleric of Eilistraee. Transformed by her experience, Bryn has become a devout follower of Eilistraee and sets out to find her brother and aid his mission. Once the Netherbrain is defeated and all related issues are resolved, Bree will pass away again, permanently. When she catches up with the party is variable, but defaults to late Act 2 or early Act 3.  COMPANION.   AU.
Bree's companion verse where she is recruitable by Tav, where Rhys died instead of her. She is found in the Underdark, trying to run away from the other drow who have found her. As long as the party isn't immediately hostile, Bree will hide from battle, but will emerge after to ask for their protection.
If everything stays friendly, she'll agree to help guide them through the Underdark and aid Tav on their journey. Bree can only be recruited by good/neutral-aligned characters, regardless of race or gender.  DRAGON AGE.   AU.

This AU follows Bree's companion verse, where Rhys killed himself rather than fight her, and she flees into the underdark to escape. She surfaces close-by to wherever your muse is, and can be recruited to join the party. A sword dancer of Eilistraee, she uses a fighting style somewhere between a rogue and a cleric, able to heal and support others in combat while also dealing her own damage.

LYR melzzavar

Lymeorvir - also known as Lym or Leo depending on which twin is calling for him - came into the world in the beginning of the calendar year, already unwanted as a second son.His mother, having given birth to male-female twins Rhylnar and Iraebryn, and had three daughters afterwards; she had since found a new male partner and had been hoping for another daughter. Instead, she got another son, weaker and less capable than her first. According to drow tradition, he would be sent off to Sorcere anyway.Lymeorvir spent most of his childhood hiding in the shadows of his three older sisters, often neglected and ignored by his parents, and only really tended to by servants since the twins were rarely at home, and the sisters had been sent to live with their cousins, the Duskryn daughters, to void his eldest sister Bryn's gentle influence. With the twins aged forty and well-established in their careers, the first ten years of Lym's life were neglectful at best; he was tended to reluctantly by servants, and mostly ignored. When he was ten, he tried to argue back against his mother - just the once. He was whipped, badly, and likely would have died if the twins hadn't miraculously been home that day. Bryn managed to pull Mother's attention away, and Rhylnar whisked his brother away to another part of the estate, where he did his best to comfort him and heal his wounds. But all three siblings knew that the twins wouldn't always be around to save the day like that.At twenty-five, Lym was sent to Sorcere to begin his thirty years of magical study. He did not make many friends and largely kept to himself outside of lessons. His teachers noted that he did have a gift with mental magic and illusionary spells that affected the perception of reality. This caused some resentment towards the boy: the next twelve years were miserable. He suspected the remaining eighteen years would be equally as awful, but at least he was out of the house and away from Mother.Rhylnar was sentenced to death for accidentally crushing a spider nest, and Iraebryn tried to break him out of prison, but the two were caught and forced to fight to the death or else they'd face Lolth's favored punishment - being transformed into driders.

He was not allowed to attend, or even told the date of the trial, until it was over. From his lonely tower, Lymeorvir was powerless to do anything. It shattered him when only one twin survived, and he never could repair himself. With his mother dead and Rhys having slaughtered his way out of the city, Lymeorvir was immediately expelled from Sorcere to be imprisoned and held responsible for the actions of his older brother. He stayed there for the next five years, enduring starvation, torture, neglect, and abuse. He was denied sleep, tormented psychologically, and made to question what he believed until his mind finally broke.During this time, he began to dissociate more and more, eventually leading him to develop DID as a coping mechanism in order to survive. Left untreated in isolation and neglect, his mental state deteriorated rapidly alongside the physical deterioration of his body, which grew weak and frail due to low nutrition and lack of sleep.Shortly before Lym's 52nd birthday, a former classmate at the tower, Calaonar, made a break for it and escaped to the surface, eventually making his way to Baldur's Gate. It wasn't hard to find “a really tall drow with burn scars” - now going by Rhys - and inform him of the fate of his little brother.Calaonar opened a portal between Baldur's Gate and Menzoberranzan, enabling Rhys and Bree to sneak in and help Lym escape.Adjusting to life on the surface was both the greatest freedom in the world and impossible at the same time. Lyr struggles with both gratitude and resent; the former for his freedom, the latter for being left behind and forgotten about for so many years. He takes most of this out on Rhys, and seeks constant comfort from Bree, unaware that she will die at the end of this journey: neither twin wants to tell him.It was also once he was safe on the surface that he learned it was Calaonar, his former classmate, had been in love with him for years, and it was due to those feelings that Calaonar escaped and tried to find help, leaving Lyr feeling like he owes a debt that he doesn't know how to repay. If not rescued from Menzoberranzan, he dies during his imprisonment.

VERSES

  BALDUR'S GATE 3     Main.
Lyr is rescued by the twins and joins them and the party on the surface. When Lyr is in camp, he is extremely reclusive and does not often talk to anyone except the twins, Gale, and Shadowheart - at least at first, though he pointedly avoids Lae'zel (and Astarion, if he's in the party). He takes a particular liking to Jaheira and Minsc, though he's still slow to warm up.
Late in Act 3, while hallucinating, Lyr attempts to cut out one of his eyes. Rhys manages to stop him, but Bree is not able to fully heal his sight, leaving him partially blind in that eye.  POST-GAME.   Canon.
Lyr will usually follow along with whatever his siblings decide. Lyr will accompany Rhys to the Selûnite temple when Rhys formally commits himself to Selûne. That said, Bree and Lyr have already committed to Eilistraee at this point.
He will shelter there for a little while, but will eventually start asking to find other worshipers of Eilistraee; Rhys obliges and the three set out on their own. Lyr has no desire to ever return to the Underdark, and tends to react badly whenever it's brought up.  D&D / CRIT ROLE     AU.
Flexible verse depending on the setting. Lyr's backstory can be adapted to fit the verse / thread, but in every case, he was exiled from Sorcere (or the equivalent in-world school of magic) and held captive as punishment for Rhys' crimes and escape. There, he is tortured, starved, and isolated, and his mind eventually breaks. Eventually, he is rescued by his older twin siblings, but the damage has already been done. Lyr does, however, bring powerful magic to the party - if he can be convinced to ever use it again.

Not to mention, Rhys is a criminal and a traitor in Menzoberranzan, and Bree is supposed to be dead.Lyr has spent the past five years calling out to Eilistraee or any other god who would listen, but he resists his rescue at first, believing that he has hallucinated the twins' arrival. There are many points during the quest at which the twins can fail, resulting in them and/or Lyr dying.

AERRYN SUNBROOK

THIS BIO IS A WIP! Aerryn was my original DND OC back in ye olden days, and I'm doing some major updates to her character as I add her to the roster. Expect some changes to come up as I continue to develop her. Also, because the timeline on Rosymorn Monastery is sketchy at best, for my personal blog canon, it came under attack by githyanki in 1460.

⋆ Aerryn was born to loving parents who never actually intended to send her to a monastery. Her childhood was fairly normal, though her parents noticed that sometimes she seemed to drift off in the middle of conversation, or that she seemed to see things that weren't there.⋆ Aerryn was 13 the first time that a spirit possessed her. She was outside in the woods with Inaralei and Caithyra when an elemental spirit of frost took over her body. Her hair, normally the color of wheat, became tinted with deep icy blue, her eyes changed from grey to the color of deep sea ice, and she stopped responding mid-sentence. Her sisters could only watch in fright and befuddlement as Aerryn stalked off into the woods, muttering to herself.⋆ she was missing for two and a half weeks before the spirit no longer needed her body and departed. Aerryn awoke in a strange village miles from her home, dressed in a stranger's clothing, with no memory at all of what happened. As she remembered it, she was talking to her sisters when she suddenly blinked out of awareness.⋆ over the next two years, this happened three more times; each time, her hair and eyes changed to reflect the nature of the spirit possessing her, and she would wander off without warning and without responding to those around her.⋆ with no understanding of what was happening to their daughter or what to do about it, her parents brought her to Rosymorn Monastery, hoping that someone there would be able to help, or at least provide answers. It was decided that Aerryn should stay there for the time being, where the clerics could study her and try to find a solution. In the mean time, Aerryn was encouraged to begin her studies as a Light domain cleric of Lathander.⋆ it wasn't until she was possessed at 17 by the spirit of a former cleric of Lathander from the monastery that anyone was able to learn the truth: Aerryn was a spirit conduit, a channeler of voices, whose existence was like a beacon for the spirit realm, a bright light shining in the darkness that couldn't be ignored. Spirits or demigods who had unfinished business or other important work were pulled towards her like a moth to the flame.⋆ the cleric explained that all of Aerryn's possessions were related to this element of her nature, but he did not yet know how to help her control it. His spirit departed and Aerryn

snapped back into existence, unaware of the revelation of her peers had just received.⋆ it was hard news to take. Aerryn didn't understand why she had been created this way. She struggled to cope with the gaps in her memory and with never knowing what the spirits who possessed her were doing with her body when she was not aware of it. She begged the clerics for help in deactivating whatever it was that made her a conduit, but they were at a loss for how to help.⋆ after the truth came out, at least, the other clerics were able to monitor her better. Her best friend at the monastery, a half-elf named Daenelis, had already started writing down as much as he could about each instance of her possessions so that she would have some information about what she said and did in the eyes of others. The clerics told Aerryn's parents what the spirit had revealed, and although they were uneasy with the news, they decided that she should stay at Rosymorn permanently.⋆ Aerryn stayed at Rosymorn with Daenelis and the other clerics, trying to find and strengthen her faith in Lathander even as she continued to face possession. There was one beautiful stretch of time when no spirit took control of her for almost two years, and some began to wonder if she had lost the ability to channel voices. She was devastated when the spirit of a recently deceased mother took control of her body and sought revenge for her untimely death.⋆ Aerryn became possessed many different times during her 108 years at Rosymorn. Sometimes it was elemental spirits; sometimes it was the spirit of someone who had recently departed. Once, she was even possessed by a demigod who wanted to challenge Lathander. Thankfully, this request was largely ignored, and the demigod departed shortly thereafter.⋆ the years went on in much the same way, until everything changed. First, Rosymorn was attacked by Sharrans; not long after, githyanki invaders savaged the monastery, leaving no choice but to flee. Aerryn left with the other clerics, regretfully leaving behind the home she had known for so much of her life.⋆ during a possession, Aerryn was captured by the nautiloid and infected with a mindflayer tadpole. Since then, though, she hasn't gotten possessed as much . . . actually, not at all. She's not sure which is better or worse.

she harbors some prejudice against Sharrans and githyanki for what happened at Rosymorn. Aerryn also has a difficult time with the process of coming out of a possession and not knowing where she is or what was done with her body.

PERSONAL QUEST (PART 1)

WIP. Aerryn's personal quest activates in parts: first, when the party reaches Rosymorn Monastery (because she will always insist on going there instead of the Underdark), and second, when the party reaches Baldur's Gate.Upon reaching a certain part of the Monastery, Aerryn will become possessed by the spirit of a deceased Cleric. The Cleric died during the githyanki attack, but doesn't quite realize it.This part of the quest revolves around aiding the spirit to come to the realization on their own that they've passed on. If the party is kind to the spirit, it will release Aerryn without harm. If the party is too blunt or cruel to the spirit, it assumes them to be part of the githyanki invasion, and forces combat. The party will be forced to fight Aerryn and defeat her (and hopefully not kill her in the process). Here, its possible to lie to her about what happened or tell the truth. If the party tells the truth, she'll forgive them for fighting her and the exploration of the Monastery quest can continue. If the party lies, she'll have an inkling, and will confront them about it later. Lying to her will cut off any opportunity for romance, and she will turn significantly colder to the party.

VERSES

  BALDUR'S GATE 3     Main.
Aerryn's Tav verse. As a cleric of Lathander, she has a religious obligation to eradicate the undead, but she exiles Astarion rather than kill him outright after bite night. She starts off very lawful good but eventually becomes more neutral to chaotic good as the storyline progresses. Aerryn believes at first that the Dream Visitor is a new kind of spirit attempting to possess her, and is highly distrustful of him. She always takes the Blood of Lathander; even though she isn't sure she quite deserves to claim it, she believes it's better off with her than at risk of being stolen by the githyanki invaders.
  POST-GAME.   Canon.
With the mindflayer / Absolute threat defeated, Aerryn flounders for a bit, unsure of what to do with herself now, as she is no longer the same person she was before. She prays about it daily at the Stormshore Tabernacle until the answer becomes clear: She should start gathering information and resrouces to rebuild Rosymorn Monastery.
It takes her a long, long time to collect enough gold and supplies and the workforce, but eventually, she's able to connect with the other scattered survivors and work together to rebuild her former home.  COMPANION.   AU.
Aerryn can be recruited outside of Rosymorn Monastery, where she has returned to try and recover the Blood of Lathander from githyanki hands. She aids the party in battle and can help solve the Dawnmaster puzzle, making it much easier. However, if the player refuses to give her the Blood of Lathander multiple times, she will eventually turn hostile and the party will have to kill her. As one of the last survivors of Rosymorn, it is extremely important to her and she is not comfortable giving it to a stranger. In this verse, she is not tadpoled.
  D&D / CRIT ROLE     AU.
Flexible verse depending on the setting. Aerryn's backstory can be adapted to fit the verse / thread, but in every case, she experienced repeated instances of supernatural possession and was taken to Rosymorn Monastery (or an equivalent Lathanderian / Dawnfather monastery) for help. She can join the party as a cleric of Lathander / the Dawnfather / etc.
  DRAGON AGE.   AU.
WIP - Dalish elf background, but she wound up living at the chantry in a tiny village after her possessions began and neither her family nor her clan were able to help. Normally, her magic would have been a problem - but she was the best healer around for miles, and exceptions were made out of necessity. After her chantry was destroyed by darkspawn, Aerryn fled and can be recruited outside of Redcliffe, where she is tending to the wounded.

PERSONAL QUEST (PART 2)

WIP. TBD!

VANNICK RESO

THIS BIO IS A WIP! Van is a new character who I've had the idea for for a while. This bio is subject to chance as I progress in his playthrough.

⋆ Van's existence is due to a drunken one-night stand between a human woman and a wood-elf father who was just passing through. Even if pressed, neither of them would remember the other's name, but they might recognize each other if they passed by on the street.⋆ if he had another name at birth, no one knows it. His mother left him on the steps of an orphanage in Baldur's Gate when he was days old. It was the middle of the night, in late spring, and she was long gone by the time someone found him the next morning.⋆ given the name Vannick by one of the matrons of the orphanage, he grew up going by Van. The only clue to his parents identity was a small token he was left with, though he doesn't know where to start - or if he even wants to. Although he was picked on and bullied by the older kids, he quickly learned to fight and defend himself.⋆ at eleven, he was arrested by the Fist for breaking and entering a house in the Upper City. The adults in charge of him hoped that this would be a one-time offense, but Van continued to get worse as he was watched less and less. At sixteen, he and another boy, an elf named Bel, sneaked out of the orphanage and never looked back.⋆ Van and Bel quickly made a name of themselves in the Lower City, though not by name. A series of thefts, break-ins, bar fights, and muggings soon left the Lower City anxious and holding their purse-straps a little tighter.⋆ the boys thought it would never end. They amassed a crew of their own - not a mercenary group or even a company - just a bunch of social rejects who were mad at the world and the gods and everyone in between. Somewhere along the way, they became a family.⋆ the group consisted of Van (as the leader), Bel (high elf; second-in-command), Shanarei (female tiefling), Annike (female human), Rost (male half-orc), and Jeney (female half-elf). Bel, Jeney, and Van were in a polyamorous relationship together which started a few years back. A few other wayward drifters around Baldur's Gate sometimes came into the group and then left, but the core members were always the same.

⋆ things were fine until they weren't, and a job went wrong. Van took a hard hit to the head, so he doesn't remember all the details of what happened that night: just that when he woke up, Rost and Shanarei were dead, Annike was gone, and he, Bel, and Jeney were being arrested. Again.⋆ back in a Flaming Fist prison cell, the trio had to figure out what to do. Van had the longest history with the Fist, with Bel right behind him. Jeney had rich family she could sell a sob-story to, but she kept saying she didn't feel right, could someone please get her a healer?⋆ the three rotted in a prison cell for two months. Bel was starting to get anxious, Van had sunk into himself, and then they realized Jeney was pregnant, with either of Bel or Van as the father: the three had been a unit as long as anyone could remember. Bel and Van both agreed they needed to get Jeney out and to some sort of healer who could help her contact her family. They started coming up with a story.⋆ Van's idea worked. He told the Fist that the whole job had been his idea, and he'd forced Bel and Jeney into it. Bel and Jeney pleaded against him, painting themselves as a down-on-their-luck couple who wanted to turn things around for the baby. It took some convincing and tears, but Bel and Jeney were released, and Van continued to rot. The plan was for Bel and Jeney to find somewhere to crash in Waterdeep, and Van would find them when he got out.⋆ Van never made it to Waterdeep. He was planning a break-out for himself when the Nautiloid came through Baldur's Gate and snatched him up. The only thing he wants to do is get this fucking tadpole out of his fucking head and hitch a ride to Waterdeep so he can start looking for Bel and Jeney . . . but the longer this goes on, the less likely it seems that he'll be able to do that in the first place. For now, he's traveling with a new crew, though he'd almost rather be back in prison.⋆ While Van is someone from the “wrong side of the tracks,” he's more chaotic neutral than anything else. He protects who and what is his, and doesn't care much about anything else ... except when it comes to kids and animals. Van takes very little as seriously as he should, and doesn't like to think about things too much.

PERSONAL QUEST (PART 1)

WIP. When the party gets to Baldur's Gate, whether as Tav or as a companion, after a few long rests, Van mentions that he thinks he saw a human woman who looked a little bit like him by the docks in the Lower City. Tav / his companions have the opportunity to either encourage him to pursue it or advise him not to follow through. Depending on what choice the companions or Tav makes, there are three different outcomes available for Van's personal development (or lack thereof.)If encouraged to pursue the lead, Van starts asking a few shopkeeps if they've ever seen a token like the one he was left with as a baby. Mostly he runs into dead ends, but one of them does actually remember selling it to a human woman some thirty years ago. Although unable to provide a name, the shopkeep's description matches the woman Van saw at the docks. It's not much, but it's a lead.If advised to leave it be, Van throws the token into the sea and storms off back to the Elfsong, where he's later found wasted and going upstairs with two other patrons. He stumbles back to the party the next morning, hungover and unwilling to talk about it. Repeated attempts to get him to talk will result in him leaving and drinking the day away at the Elfsong again.

VERSES

  BALDUR'S GATE 3     Main.
featuring Van as Tav. He's coming right from the fallout of one of the worst nights of his life, so he's not exactly up for small-talk and making friends. Having spent the last thirteen years of his life on the streets, he's developed a cutthroat personality without much room for empathy if you're outside of his inner circle. Van is very slow to trust anyone new, and tends to mouth off more often than not.
  POST-GAME     Canon.
With the dust settled around the Aboslute threat, Van sets his sights on Waterdeep and trying to find Bel and Jeney. He's been unable to contact them for the past ... however long it's been, and he's anxious. If romanced, his partner is offered the opportunity to come with him to find Bel and Jeney, with the understanding that he plans to stay wherever they are in Waterdeep.
  COMPANION.   AU.
Van is another survivor of the Nautiloid crash who can be found on the Risen Road trying to sneak past the Githyanki and the dragon. Regardless of if Tav fights the Githyanki or talks their way out of a conflict, Van won't make it worse, but he won't help, either. He gets stuck after the bridge collapse, where he can be recruited by Tav ... though recruited is a loose word, because he's not exactly interested in friendly chats.
  DRAGON AGE.   AU.
WIP. A city elf raised in the [city] orphanage, Van was left there as a newborn in the middle of the night. With no idea who his parents are or where he's from, he grows up angry and desperate to carve his place out in the world. He grows close with Bel, another boy from the orphanage, and later Jeney, a cast-out Dalish girl, when he and Bel decide that living outside the city can't be worse than the alienage. Although he amasses his own crew, they're not particularly successful, and after one job goes really damn wrong, he wakes up with no memory to find half of them dead, one gone, and himself, Bel, and Jeney in jail...again. Bel and Jeney get out when they discover she's pregnant, but Van is stuck there, rotting in his cell, until the PC comes along and can recruit him. He'll agree, but even romanced, he will always leave after the job is done to find Bel and Jeney, who fled to another city nearby.

PERSONAL QUEST (PART 2)

If Van was encouraged to pursue the lead about his mother, he returns to the docks and eventually sees her again. When he approaches her for conversation, she reveals that he was never supposed to find her. She'd left the locket with him by mistake. She says that she never wanted to be a mother in the first place, and she's sorry, but she doesn't want to get involved. Gutted to have the door closed in his face, Van spends the next few days blackout drunk. When he finally sobers up, he refuses to acknowledge that anything happened. If a companion/Tav does not retrieve the locket, Van spends the next few days drunk out of his mind. When he sobers up, he refuses to talk about it.If a companion/Tav steals the locket from him, Van spends the night drunk and then assumes he'd tossed it while blacked out. He says that he's not a nobody in Baldur's Gate and if his family really wanted to connect with them, they'd be able to find him. He goes through with his original plan to throw the locket into the sea and admits that there's a giant hole inside him where his family should be, but he's realized he can't dwell on it, and he's just got to exist around that pain somehow.

NEDANI

THIS BIO IS A WIP! Nedani is a new character who I've had the idea for for a while. This bio is subject to change as I progress in her playthrough.

⋆ both of her parents are tieflings who met in Elturel, although their parents - Nedani's grandparents - were all humans.⋆ Belyis' mother had made a deal with a devil ages ago and almost forgotten about it entirely, and she was the result of the demon coming to call in his favor.⋆ Ebrakas' mother slept with a devil who promised to make her famous. Well, she got 'famous' in town when her son was born with red skin and had grown horns by the age of twelve.⋆ both of Nedani's parents were outcast growing up, and neglected by their parents, who were ashamed of their infernal offspring. The proof of what they had done in the past was overwhelming and uncomfortable.⋆ but when her parents found each other and eventually married and fell pregnant, they decided right away that their child would not suffer the same neglect, distrust, and distance.⋆ Nedani's life growing up was as normal and healthy as it could be, given the struggles that tieflings face. Her parents protected her and encouraged her to befriend other tieflings; eventually, she met and befriended a girl a few years younger than her, Nerissa. Later, they also brought Dammon, whose infernal heritage had recently manifested, into their friendship.⋆ when Elturel was dragged into Avernus, Nedani, Nerissa, and their other friend Dammon were all separated.⋆ but where Dammon was put to work and Nerissa was being taken advantage of, Nedani had mouthed off to the wrong devil. She was beaten within an inch of her life and locked away inside a tower in the devil's home.

⋆ knowing that her friends were being hurt, and being unable to do anything about it, Nedani sank into a deep depression.⋆ while imprisoned, Nedani befriended an elf who had been in Elturel during the fall. He had been taken prisoner by the same devil, held captive in the same cell. Despite the horrendous circumstances, Nedani and the elf became friends. When the devil noticed this, he tortured and eventually killed the elf; upon seeing Nedani's distress, he offered to 'give her back a piece of her friend.' Nedani was too upset to understand that this did not mean she would be given a memento.⋆ the devil finally took her out of her cell and into a second location elsewhere in the compound. Without explanation, he used magic to sedate and anesthetize her; when she awoke, she could not see clearly, and the skin around her eyes stung with a dull pain that she didn't understand.⋆ it was only when she looked into a mirror for the first time that she realized the devil had taken her eyes and given her those of her elven friend - an experiment done by the devil simply to see if he could actually do it successfully.⋆ she started planning what she would do if she was ever released from this prison. When Elturel was finally restored, Nedani broke her containment at last. She broke off a piece of the wooden banister on the stairs in her tower, sharpened it into a stake, waited until the right moment, and stabbed the devil who had imprisoned her through the heart.⋆ although the devil was a devil and not a vampire, she still managed to kill him this way.⋆ still separated from her friends, Nedani then caught up with the rest of the tiefling refugees who were cast out of Elturel.

VERSES

  BALDUR'S GATE 3     Main.
Nedani can be recruited in act 1, only if Tav saves the grove and doesn't bring Minthara and the goblins close to it. However, recruiting her requires passing a very high persuasion check, as she's very reluctant to leave her friends, and she doesn't really know what she can add to the party. A tiefling Tav, or a Tav who has already recruited Karlach, will have an easier time of convincing her to join the party than anyone else.
  TAV     AU.
In this timeline, Nedani missed catching the group of refugees and tried to make her own way to Baldur's Gate anyway, where she was caught by the Nautiloid. She will adamantly defend the grove; there is no convincing her otherwise as these are her friends and kin. She tends to let the group decide what course of action to take about most decisions, as she's not used to being in any sort of leadership position and generally dislikes it.
  D&D / CRIT ROLE     AU.
Flexible verse depending on the setting. Nedani's backstory can be adapted to fit the verse / thread, but in every case, she is taken prisoner by a devil and experimented upon, given the eyes of an elven friend she met during captivity. Otherwise, Nedani earns most of her income through working at a small roadside inn as a barmaid / server, and likes to practice her dancing in her free time.

PERSONAL QUEST

WIP.

CONNOVER TOLLAND

⋆ Connover was born to a farmer and a homemaker in a small village, little more than a dot on the map, about five days from Baldur's Gate. The middle child, he was the first son, and spent most of his childhood badgering his older sister and getting into what he would later call “shenanigans” with his little brother. He and his brother spent their days like most farm kids, waking early to help his father tend to the animals and care for the land, while their sister left home early to pursue an education in Waterdeep.⋆ his life was fairly typical. The farm, his family, and the divine took up most of his time. It wasn't until he was in his late 20's that he met Isolde, the daughter of a merchant from the next village over. Connover and Isolde became fast friends, and then, just as quickly, fell in love and decided to marry.⋆ barely three months after the wedding, Isolde fell pregnant. The couple was overjoyed; life was simple but the gods were kind, the harvest was bountiful, and hope never seemed out of reach.⋆ their daughter Adalyn was born in the middle of winter. She was frequently ill as she grew, far more than any other child, beyond the skills of the village healer to help. Connover and Isolde made the difficult decision to uproot themselves and move to Baldur's Gate, where more specialized healers were more accessible.⋆ for years, things were all right. Connover didn't like the city very much, but he was used to manual labor and found satisfaction in completed jobs. Isolde became a seamstress; her designs were moderately popular among some nobility. Adalyn was still sick more often than not, but being closer to the healers and medicine shops made the family feel a little more comfortable about it.⋆ on the night of Adalyn's 10th birthday, Connover took her for a walk along the river; despite the winter chill, the sky was free of clouds and they both wanted to watch the stars for a little bit before bedtime.⋆ their neighborhood had never been unsafe before. But on that night, it became unsafe. Quick as death, shadows fell upon the street, and what Connover later learned was a vampire attacked him and Adalyn. He tried to fight the

creature off, and managed to get in a few hits, but it was too late: the creature incapacitated him and disappeared into the night with his daughter.⋆ as soon as he was able to stand, Connover gave chase into the night, shouting for the help of the Fist. For hours, he and the Fist and other citizens searched for any trace of the monster and his child to no avail. A few days later, her body was found on the other side of town, drained of blood.⋆ Connover and Isolde fell apart. He vacillated between grief and rage as his kind heart slowly began to fill with vengeance and hatred. Isolde stopped eating, bathing, and sleeping; before three months passed, grief took her in her sleep, and Connover was alone with his furious pain.⋆ the next two years were a blur. He nearly surrendered himself to the House of Grief, but something in his gut told him to leave. He was angry at those monsters, angry at the Fist, angry at himself and the gods alike. Lost and directionless, he somehow found himself at the Stormshore Tabernacle more often than not, venting to the clerics and demanding answers for what had happened to his daughter.⋆ answers never came. Fate was random, and cruel, and sometimes there was no reason. He yelled a lot at Lathander; how could he ever find a new dawn in the depths of this hell?⋆ the scene repeated itself many times over the next six months, until one afternoon, after storming out of the Tabernacle once more, Connover spontaneously decided to take a different route home. He ended up walking all the way into Rivington, climbing up to the highest point, and scowling off into the distance.⋆ It was then that he heard the divine voice of Lathander charging him with a new purpose: direct his anger towards the monstrous things in the dark. It would not bring back Isolde or Adalyn, but he could stop this pain from coming to others, and through that, find meaning in his life again.⋆ Connover wanted to say that it wouldn't make a difference unless his wife and daughter were brought back, but he knew that that wasn't the point. He swore an oath, there upon the hill, to exact the will of Lathander, becoming a Paladin.

VERSES

  BALDUR'S GATE 3     Main.
COMPANION - Connover is recruitable as early as act 2, having come to the Shadow-Cursed Lands as reinforcements for the Harpers stationed there. He will always be hostile to Astarion if present; there is no avoiding this. However, he will generally be supportive of a good-aligned Tav. Not recruitable by an embrace Durge or evil-aligned Tav.
  BALDUR'S GATE 3     Alternate.
TAV - Acting as Tav, Connover follows a pretty typical good-aligned playthrough. Astarion is staked on bite night or upon the reveal that he is a vampire; Connover's personal trauma and oath will not allow otherwise. Connover does not recruit Minthara. He frees Orpheus, siding against the Emperor, and frees Baldur's Gate from the Mindflayer threat.
  D&D / CRIT ROLE     AU.
Flexible verse depending on the setting. Connover's backstory can be adapted to fit the verse / thread, but in every case, his daughter was taken and killed by a vampire and grief took his wife not long after. Connover still starts as a farmer, becomes a manual laborer, and eventually a Paladin of Lathander / the Everlight.
  DRAGON AGE     AU.
Flexible verse depending on the setting. Connover's backstory can be adapted to fit the verse / thread, but in every case, his daughter was taken and killed by a demon released by a careless mage and grief took his wife not long after. Connover still starts as a farmer, becomes a manual laborer, and eventually a templar after finding purpose in the Maker . . . though he finds it a lot harder to actually hunt mages.

DAMMON IRONHEART

THIS BIO IS A WIP! I haven't written a canon character in ages, but Dammon has almost no information so I'm figuring things out as I go.

⋆ Dammon was born to two human parents in Baldur's Gate. Unbeknownst to his parents, his paternal grandfather four generations back had made a deal with a devil. Dammon was born with infernal heritage, though nobody knew about it or expected anything to happen.⋆ for the first fifteen years of Dammon's life, absolutely nothing out of the ordinary happened. He played with other boys in the neighborhood, he learned blacksmithing from his father, he carried things inside the house for his mother, proud to be her strong son. His parents loved him.⋆ shortly after Dammon turned fifteen, he started feeling itching sensations towards the base of his spine and the top of his forehead. This coincided with headaches and the feeling that something was moving around on top of his skull. Over the next six months, horns began to grow rapidly from two spots above his forehead, a tail began to extend from his lower back, his skin changed from fair, like his parents, to a reddish hue, and his fingernails always grew into points, no matter how many times he filed them down.⋆ eight months after his body started to change, ridges began to form along Dammon's chest, shoulders, back, and legs, as his infernal features continued to develop rapidly. He tried to saw off his horns, only for them to grow back within a week.⋆ Dammon was terrified. With no explanation of what was happening to him, his father Kryzstof suspected that his mother had cheated on him with a devil or made some sort of pact. Nothing would placate him. Dammon's father became hostile towards both him and Lunette. Eventually, after a horrible fight in which Krysztof almost beat Dammon to death, he threatened to finish the job if Lunette didn't agree to get rid of the boy.⋆ believing that something evil had corrupted her son, and afraid of her husband, Lunette relented, and Dammon was kicked out of the only home he'd ever known.⋆ he survived on his own for a few months, stealing and hiding away as his body continued to change. One winter, he got extremely sick, and had all but given up hope. He hid in an alleyway, waiting to die.

⋆ but it was not yet his time. Dammon was found by a tiefling couple, Zarreus and Ines, who took one look at him and knew right away what had happened.⋆ Zarreus and Ines took Dammon into their home and raised him as their own son. More often than not, he resisted their attempts to integrate him into tiefling society, insisting that he needed to "fix" this and wanted to go back to his parents.⋆ it wasn't until he befriended Nedani and Nerissa, two tiefling girls around his age, that he began to start slowly accepting his new reality. It was difficult. He had loved his old life with his parents, and sometimes he struggled greatly to find peace with his new community and the way his old friends looked at him now. But eventually, Dammon realized that he could not go back to his parents' house, and that his old life was a closed chapter which could not be reopened.⋆ he continued studying blacksmithing and eventually was allowed to take and work on his own orders at the forge. Having a job and being able to successfully create something that was useful in turn made him feel useful, and his confidence started to come back.⋆ everything went to hell again, literally this time, when Elturel was pulled into Avernus. Dammon was separated from Nedani and Nerissa in the chaos, and while trying to fight them, he was captured by a devil in the army.⋆ once it was realized that Dammon had a knack for forging and machinery, he was immediately set to work in the war force's forge, crafting and repairing weapons and armor for the forces of Hell. While this spared him from the worst of Avernus for the most part, he was worked to the bone.⋆ when Elturel was pulled out of Avernus, Dammon tried once again to find Nerissa and Nedani, but was unsuccessful. Now with tieflings being blamed for everything that had happened, Dammon found himself at the wrong end of the spear, even though he had been born human. Out of options, he packed what belongings he had left and decided to follow Zevlor out of Elturel and get on the road to Baldur's Gate. Although he had to leave most of his tools behind in Avernus, Dammon hasn't yet given up hope for his future.

LUMINE

▍ ❝  YOU CAN NEVER GO HOME.
Lumine and her twin brother, Aether, came into being on another world far, far away from Teyvat. Celestial beings without a true form, the twins enjoyed a relatively peaceful existence on their home planet, and when they were old enough, they took on corporeal forms and ventured off into the stars in search of good times. For hundreds of years, they traveled together from world to world, stopping back home now and then to see their family and community.
A little over five hundred years ago, an unknown force destroyed the twins' planet. Lumine and her brother were the only survivors.Injured and without much choice, they fled their planet together and tried to seek refuge on nearby worlds, but they were turned away out of fear that their presence would bring misfortune.Eventually, the twins all but crash-landed in Teyvat -- Khaenri'ah, specifically. From there, however, it gets a bit fuzzy for Lumine. She recalls little of her time there -- just chaos and destruction, a field of white flowers, and falling into a deep, deep sleep.Five hundred years later, she awoke on a beach in the nation of Mondstadt.   In a fit of rage and grief over her circumstances, Lumine took out her knife and chopped off most of her hair. She immediately regretted it, but the damage was done. Not long after, while trying to catch some fish for dinner, instead she fished a fairy-type creature called Paimon out of the sea and the two began traveling together. In two months, Lumine mastered the common language of Teyvat, along with the most common writing systems.▍ ❝  THE JOURNEY ONWARD.
She was on a search for her brother. After all - Aether wouldn't have abandoned her in all of that chaos, right?    Since she was here in Mondstadt, Lumine decided to ask the person in charge for help.
Since then, she's fought off dragons and real gods and those chasing after godhood. Most of them, she's even befriended. But as her journey throughout the seven nations of Teyvat goes on and on, her mission has changed from simply finding her brother to potentially stopping him from using the power of the Abyss to overthrow Celestia, though she still hopes they can talk it out first.

Each time she feels like she's started to get closer to reconnecting with Aether, she only realizes she's farther away than before. With her brother leading the Abyss, it seems impossible that they'll ever see eye-to-eye again. But still, she wants to try.In the mean time, Lumine's journey has taken her through Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, and Fontaine, and Natlan. Next on the agenda: Nod Krai, and then what is likely the most dangerous of them all: Snezhnaya.▍ ❝  CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.
Much of Lumine's development will be explored through the headcanon posts linked below. However, some notable divergences from canon include:
* her changed appearance. My Lumine has grown out her hair since she chopped it off when her emotions got the best of her. Having long hair again makes her feel more confident in herself, and she feels it better matches the human-like form she chose.* she is technically capable of changing her form, but after so many years, she's grown rather fond of this one and doesn't feel any need to change it.* I write Lumine as greatly and increasingly disillusioned with Celestia and the gods of Teyvat, even as she counts many of them amongst her friends. By now, Lumine believes that the Heavenly Principles are dangerous and that sooner or later, she will hav to come head to head with them - potentially even at the side of the Fatui, who she once considered enemies. This is compounded with the fact that she's spent enough time to meet and love people in Teyvat, and care about them. Lumine will always help those in need, but she was somewhat detached and unwilling to open up past a certain point to those around her when she first landed in this world. As time has gone on, Teyvat has begun to feel more like home, and she does, in many ways, consider this world to be her new home. Although she doesn't know what lies ahead of her after going through the seven nations as her brother instructed, she does know that the bonds she's forged here have become too deep to simply discard when that journey reaches its end.* Lumine bears scars on her shoulders and back where her wings used to be. She doesn't like to talk about it, but with close enough friends or a partner, she may be willing to open up.

  Canon timeline     Main Verse.
Follows canon + my headcanons. Lumine is the traveler on her way throughout Teyvat, accompanied by her traveling companion Paimon. Lumine used to be simply searching for her brother... well, now she's searching for answers to far more questions than she ever had at the beginning of her journey.
  Fatui Princess   AU.
An AU in which Lumine woke up in Snezhnaya instead of Mondstadt, and was taken in by the Fatui. In this verse, she never found Paimon, but she is nonetheless sent deep undercover to travel to the seven nations and aid the harbingers in acquiring the gnoses, although sometimes this looks like she's fighting them on the surface.

KAEYA ALBERICH

▍ ❝  PREHISTORY.
When the Goddess of Flowers died, Zahara left her large desert-dwelling family in search of ... something. She wasn't sure what that something was, or what void it was trying to fill, but she knew she didn't want to stay. Twenty-two years of the same life, day in, day out... maybe it was just time for a change?    One journey led to another, and eventually, she settled alone in Khaenri'ah. Not long after starting her new life, she discovered a latent talent for engineering, and quickly found work with the Khaenri'ahn engineers building their enormous machines.
At some point, after delivering a few progress updates and prototypes to the royal family, she caught the attention of one of the court mages, a stern-looking man named ■■■■■■■■, who was a few years older than her, but very intelligent and very handsome. Zahara entertained his conversation at first, mostly to be polite, as he was clearly someone important and she was just one of many engineers. However, she had no real interest in starting a relationship at that point in time. It wasn't until she fell ill that her opinion started to change. She was alone in Khaenri'ah, with no other family and few friends, and thus, no one to take care of her while she endured fevers and the other miseries of illness. ■■■■■■■■ pulled rank to ensure she had a job to return to, and sent regular deliveries of food and medicine to her apartment. She knew it was him - few others would have the funds to secure that much medicine from the surface. The rest, as they say, is history.About a year into their marriage, Zahara fell pregnant and nine months later, Kaeya was born. She had never quite felt a pull towards motherhood but had always considered her machines her babies; while that remained true, she found the experience better than she would have initially thought -- recognizing, of course, her fortune to have married into wealth and power, which made everything about parenthood a lot easier.Zahara loved her son tremendously, and shared with him not only her love for language and taking things apart to figure out how they work. When he was old enough, she started teaching him to fight.▍ ❝  THE CATACLYSM.
The day after Kaeya's seventh birthday, Khaenri'ah fell.
It happened so quickly there was no time to prepare.Zahara pulled Kaeya into her arms and ran out of the house; there was no time to grab anything, not even his favorite toy or blanket. Knowing that the only way to safety was up and out, she - and the rest of the capital region - fled towards the surface as the world crashed and burned around her, and the roar of flames and explosions threatened to deafen. But there were too many people trying to do the same thing, and she couldn't run fast enough carrying a crying child. In the middle of the stampede she fell and lost her hold on Kaeya, who, small and skinny and fast, managed to scramble away to the side and avoid getting crushed. He cried for people to stop, for someone to help, but help was nowhere to be found. ■■■■■■■■ was undoubtedly at the court, and the vanguard was everywhere and nowhere at once. He watched his mother die.She was two months pregnant with a daughter when she was trampled to death. Then a strong hand closed around his forearm and yanked him up; ■■■■■■■■ had arrived too late to save Zahara, but just in time to save his son. Kaeya only heard a few words in a strange language from his father, and then he fell asleep.▍ ❝  AFTER THE END OF THE WORLD.
■■■■■■■■ carried his son into the depths of the Abyss, where Celestia's curse could not reach. Father and son and a few other survivors stayed there in the darkness for a long time - long enough that a year had passed on the surface. At that point, believing it was safe to re-emerge, [REDACTED] carefully brought Kaeya to the surface.
Kaeya stayed in a magical slumber for five hundred years; the

magic kept him frozen in time, never aging a day seven years old.Having taken a new name and a new life, his father then lifted the spell from Kaeya informed him of what happened. Mother was gone. Khaenri'ah had fallen. They were safe now, though ■■■■■■■■ would not tell him their current location. The only thing Kaeya noticed was that it was exceptionally cold, but a different kind of cold from what he was used to.Kaeya cried himself to sleep at night for three weeks straight. For the next number of months, Pierro was in and out of the safehouse, the location of which changed frequently. Warm weather, cold weather, somewhere by the sea (the sea?), somewhere deeply hidden away. ■■■■■■■■ met with strange people with foreign names, but Kaeya was forbidden from listening in or asking questions.Often left to his own devices, Kaeya busied himself with catching frogs and counting the ships that passed by in the distance. He liked the lighthouse. Pierro needed a better solution.▍ ❝  MONDSTADT.
A few months before Kaeya's eighth birthday, his father, now using the name Pierro, told him they were traveling to somewhere new. It was raining when they reached Mondstadt, and though he said nothing to his son, the father knew despite his hesitance that this was the best choice. He'd called in a favor with Crepus Ragnvindr - the solution to his problem. Pierro's silence for Crepus to raise his son in his stead.
The boy was the last hope of Khaenri'ah. Pierro reminded himself of that many times as he walked away, pretending he didn't hear those soft cries.Kaeya thought the man's hair looked like flames, but he didn't know how to say it. His command of the surface tongue his mother spoke was weak; he'd never needed to use it with his father. For months, Kaeya barely spoke. His new brother, Diluc, didn't let that deter him from doing his best to become friends.By the time Kaeya was sixteen, much had changed. He was fluent in the common tongue, having learned that he had an incredible talent for language. Diluc and Jean and Thoma were his best friends; he was popular and well-liked in Mondstadt. Crepus taught him about the winery, he and his friends had all successfully become squires for the Knights of Favonius. Together, the friend-group survived Jean's parents' divorce and Thoma's sudden disappearance at sea. Kaeya was looking forward to celebrating Diluc's eighteenth birthday. The world ended again that day. With a newly-bestowed Vision in hand, Kaeya showed up on Jean's doorstep in the middle of that terrible rainstorm, bloodied and burned and wounded, and wishing he had slipped and fallen into Cider Lake before he made it over the bridge.    He'd broken the most important rule: never tell the truth about Khaenri'ah. His body gave out and he collapsed into Jean's arms. If you ask her, it was nothing short of a miracle that he survived the fight with Diluc.Kaeya moved into the dormitories at Headquarters after that, into a sparsely-decorated apartment that he still hasn't done anything with. On the surface, everyone sees the charming young bachelor whom all the wealthy grandmothers want as a grandson-in-law. They see the charismatic knight-captain, Jean's second-in-command. They see him playing well with Klee and keeping an eye out for Bennett, Razor, and the other kids around town. As far as he's concerned, that's all anyone needs to see. When Varka took most of the horses in Mondstadt and went off on his legendary expedition not long after, Jean was left in charge. It was then that Kaeya took on the mantle of Mondstadt's unofficial spy master (though he really, really hates that word) in addition to his official title. He has sort of started to reconcile with Diluc, though it's still a little touch-and-go.He dreads the day he'll be forced to choose which home to save.

PERSONAL QUEST

WIP -- I know he has his story quests in-game, but this one is specific to my portrayal and something I would love to explore!

VERSES

  Canon timeline     Main Verse.
Concurrent with the game timeline, assuming six years have passed in 'real life' since the Traveler first arrived in Mondstadt. Kaeya will reference the passage of time and is now about 28 years old.
  The Prince of Khaenri'ah    AU.
An AU in which Kaeya's fate as the Last Hope of Khaenri'ah comes true, and he is called to become the prince of Khaenri'ah and restore his fallen homeland. The only problem is: what does that mean for everyone else? Forced to choose between Khaenri'ah and everywhere else, Kaeya can only stall for so long before he must make a move.
  The Winter Soldier    AU.
Pierro kept Kaeya at his side and raised him amongst the other Fatui. Kaeya serves the Tsaritsa and her goals to bring Celestia to its knees. In this verse, he's one of the Fatui members stationed in Mondstadt at the beginning of the game. He acts as a diplomat between Mondstadt and Snezhnaya, though he does take a genuine liking to the people in the City of Freedom. Kaeya's problems with alcoholism, depression, and identity / loyalty are significantly lessened in this verse as he not only maintains a connection to his heritage and culture, but to his blood family. Kaeya still grieves his mother and his home, but he has a sharp point to focus on as a member of the Tsaritsa's court. He is not a harbinger but rather a diplomat, similar to Arlecchino, who works directly under his father, Pierro.
  House of the Hearth    AU.
an au verse in which Pierro left Kaeya with Arlecchino instead, and he was raised inside the House of the Hearth by the (new) Knave. As the big boss's son, Kaeya's missions tend to be less life-threatening and more diplomatic instead. Trained by Arlecchino herself in the art of diplomacy, Kaeya's natural charm and easy smile help him accomplish his goals. Kaeya's problems with alcoholism, depression, and identity / loyalty are significantly lessened or not present. This verse relies heavily on my own interpretation of Arlecchino but of course is open to other interpretations! because Arlecchino also comes from Khaenri'ah and speaks the language, Kaeya is able to maintain a stronger connection to his homeland, heritage, and language as he transitions into a new life. That support is significant for his mental health.
This verse assumes that my portrayal of Arlecchino is the one referenced unless we plot or discuss otherwise!  Verse Name    AU.   —  affiliated with @blogurl
